D. or equivalent from an internationally recognized institution in mechanical engineering, chemical engineering, electrical engineering, applied mathematics, or other related fields, with a focus on estimation, control theory, and/or data assimilation Extensive experience with physics-based modeling, simulation, and dynamic analysis of multiphysical systems Expertise in thermofluid systems is preferred, but background in mechatronic or other systems will also be considered Strong programming skills, in at least some of Julia, Modelica, C/C++, Python, and Matlab A strong publication record in leading conferences and journals, consistent with experience A record for independently proposing and executing research programs with academic impact Strong teamwork, communication (oral and written), teaching, and listening skills The pay range for this position at the commencement of employment is expected to be between $135,000 and $170,000 per year. Specific areas of interest include state and parameter estimation for physics-based models comprised of hybrid (discrete and continuous state) nonlinear differential algebraic equations, particle filtering and ensemble estimation methods, variational methods for data assimilation and model inversion, and other cutting-edge estimation technologies.
