<h3>SEASONAL EMPLOYMENT: August 1st - November 15th 2026 PAY RATE:</h3>$400 / Weekly POSITION SUMMARY:This role focuses on maintenance, groundskeeping, and supporting our native plant nursery. The position ensures camp facilities, infrastructure, and outdoor spaces are safe, functional, and thriving. The Projects, Maintenance & Nursery Specialist reports to the Director of Facilities. JOB DUTIES: ● Perform routine inspections and basic repairs on buildings, cabins, and camp infrastructure. ● Mow lawns, trim bushes, clear brush, and remove debris regularly. ● Maintain and care for native plant nursery, including planting, watering, and propagation. ● Assist with unloading deliveries and organizing storage areas. ● Conduct routine safety checks of facilities, equipment, and public spaces. ● Ensure tools and hazardous materials are properly stored and labeled. ● Support projects related to camp improvements, maintenance, and landscaping. ● Follow YMCA policies, safety procedures, and standards for high-risk activities.<h3>QUALIFICATIONS:</h3>● Experience in general maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture preferred. ● Knowledge of native plants, gardening, or nursery care is a plus. ● Ability to perform physical labor in outdoor environments. ● Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. ● Ability to work independently and collaboratively on projects. ● Compliance with YMCA child safety policies and abuse prevention training. This role focuses primarily on maintaining high standards of cleanliness and safety for our short-term rental properties, school, and group accommodations. In addition to cleaning duties, the specialist will assist with maintenance tasks and projects as needed. The position reports to the Director of Facilities. JOB DUTIES:<ul><li>Clean and prepare cabins for guest check-ins and group/school arrivals.</li><li>Perform routine inspections of cabins and shared facilities to ensure safety and cleanliness.</li><li>Clean restrooms, showers, and common areas on a regular schedule.</li><li>Assist with trash collection and disposal throughout the camp.</li><li>Support maintenance tasks and projects as secondary responsibilities (e.g., basic repairs, grounds upkeep, or organizing storage areas).</li><li>Report maintenance or safety concerns to the Facilities team.</li><li>Follow YMCA policies, safety procedures, and standards for high-risk activities.</li></ul><h3>QUALIFICATIONS:</h3><ul><li>Experience with housekeeping, janitorial work, or short-term rental cleaning preferred.</li><li>Ability to lift, bend, and perform physical tasks as required.</li><li>Strong attention to detail and commitment to guest satisfaction.</li><li>Ability to work independently and as part of a team.</li><li>Basic skills in maintenance, landscaping, or general project support are a plus.</li><li>Knowledge of cleaning products, safety, and proper storage practices.</li><li>Compliance with YMCA child safety policies and abuse prevention training.</li></ul> BENEFITS:<ul><li>On-site, seasonal housing provided at no cost to employees. The Facilities/Maintenance Lead will build relationships to create a healthy environment for all staff and members of the YMCA by working to support the janitorial and cleaning, maintenance, and grounds needs of the facility. The position consists of day to day leadership and organization of the facilities team while also thoroughly communicating with other departments about ongoing needs or projects. Ongoing needs and projects include, but aren’t limited to, the daily turnover and maintenance of our Short Term Rental Cabins in the morning and handling any maintenance and facilities concern throughout the day. They will provide a safe work environment for all staff and members and report to the Director of Facilities. JOB DUTIES:<ul><li>Perform routine inspections and basic repairs on buildings, cabins, and cam infrastructure.</li><li>Help prepare our Short Term Rental cabins for guests that are checking in</li><li>​​​​​Clean and prepare cabins for school and group arrivals</li><li>Troubleshoot and report any safety or structural hazards</li><li>Mow lawns, trim bushes, clear brush, and remove debris regularly</li><li>Assist with daily trash collection and disposal throughout camp</li><li>Clean restrooms, showers, and shared facilities on a regular schedule</li><li>Help with unloading deliveries and maintaining storage areas</li><li>Conduct routine safety checks of facilities, equipment, and public spaces</li><li>Ensure tools and hazardous materials are properly stored and labeled</li><li>Works with supervisor to assure compliance with federal, state, and local regulations as they relate to program areas, including ADA accommodations where appropriate; ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.</li><li>Adheres to policies, standard operating procedures, and handbooks related to boundaries with youth.</li><li>Participates and attends all required abuse risk management training.</li><li>Adheres to standards & procedures related to managing high-risk activities and supervising youth.</li><li>Reports any suspicious, inappropriate behaviors and policy violations to the supervisor immediately and complies with mandated YMCA and State of Hawaii abuse reporting requirements.</li><li>Performs other duties as assigned.</li></ul>QUALIFICATIONS:<ul><li>Minimum 1 year experience in general maintenance, landscaping, or horticulture preferred.</li><li>Knowledge of native plants, gardening, or nursery care is a plus.</li><li>Ability to perform physical labor in outdoor environments.</li><li>Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.</li><li>Ability to work independently and collaboratively on projects.</li><li>Compliance with YMCA child safety policies and abuse prevention training.</li></ul>BENEFITS:<ul><li>On-site, seasonal housing provided at no cost to employees.
