Overview:
We are seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer who specializes in designing and optimizing piping and mechanical systems within process-control environments that handle liquids or gases. This role demands extensive experience in fluid dynamics, equipment specification, and structural analysis. The successful candidate will lead innovation in system design with minimal supervision, ensuring projects meet operational, regulatory, and safety targets from conception through final realization.

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Lead the design, construction, and maintenance of facility piping systems, including rigorous component sizing and equipment selection (pumps, motors, heaters, blowers, valves, etc.).</li><li>Model pressure, flow, and thermal effects (steady‐state and transient) using CFD, FEA, and related tools; validate piping integrity under static and dynamic loads, and perform pipe-stress/structural analyses.</li><li>Develop, review, and red-line mechanical and piping drawings, plans, and specifications derived from engineering calculations; ensure compliance with codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.</li><li>Plan, schedule, conduct, and coordinate detailed phases of engineering work for major projects or for entire projects of moderate scope; prepare ROMs and detailed cost estimates, compile equipment specifications, and generate procurement documentation.</li><li>Participate in safety reviews, quality-assurance activities, training sessions, and regulatory audits; drive continuous improvement by integrating emerging technologies and best practices.</li><li>Produce technical reports, literature reviews, and progress updates; present findings and status briefings to stakeholders and senior management.</li><li>Direct the work of technical support staff and mentor junior engineers in mechanical and fluid-system design; guide troubleshooting and modifications to resolve equipment malfunctions.</li><li>Perform additional related tasks as assigned.</li></ul>

Qualifications:
<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (or a related field) from an accredited institution – or equivalent combination of education and experience.</li><li>Professional Engineer (PE) licensure and/or certifications in project management or quality are advantageous but not required.</li><li>5+ years of mechanical design-engineering experience with a strong focus on piping and fluid systems (industrial liquid or gas processes).</li><li>Demonstrated expertise in pressure-drop calculations, fluid-flow optimization, and equipment sizing/selection.</li><li>Proficiency in static and dynamic piping analyses, including pipe-stress and support-structure calculations.</li><li>Prior experience in highly regulated or process-driven industries (nuclear, chemical processing, oil & gas, HVAC, etc.).</li><li>Familiarity with relevant codes and standards (ASME or equivalent) and proven ability to integrate them into efficient designs.</li><li>Strong in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and materials science.</li><li>Must possess or have the ability to obtain and maintain a “Q” Clearance </li></ul>

Support the development, review/comment, and approval cycles of engineering documentation including, but not limited to, system requirements documents (SRDs), engineering evaluations (EE), equivalency substitutions evaluation (ESE), design analysis and calculations (DAC)s, Change Evaluations (CE), Job Field Instructions (JFI), Post Maintenance Testing (PMT)s, Preventive Maintenance determinations, and design verification test plans (TP)s. Responsibilities: As directed by EPC management, this position will support and coordinate with Centrus staff, EPC supply chain manufacturers/vendors, EPC contractors, and Centrus augmented staff by direct involvement of specified areas for the construction of new facilities, modification of existing facilities.

Overview:
Act as the owner's advocate in all project phases, from planning and design to construction and closeout.  Responsible for technical and engineering support for area specific assignments. The role will include coordination of cross-organizational and cross-discipline inputs and outputs for the design, procurement, installation, testing, commissioning, and turnover of installed systems, structures, and components for the deployment of an enrichment plant in Piketon Ohio.  Responsible for coordinating with the EPC and other contractors and vendors and provide oversight and guidance.  People in this position will become SMEs in specific systems, facilities, and technologies. Responsible for conceptual and detailed design package development and reviews.  Support construction work packages development, review, and approval steps to support field execution. Coordinate change management during execution phase including, but not limited to, constructability issues, risk mitigation actions, test plan identified corrections.  Successful position candidates should implement safety first and program compliant approaches to successfully support the design, procurement, fabrication, testing, commissioning, and turnover for plant operation program elements for long-term plant operations. 

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>As directed by EPC management, this position will support and coordinate with Centrus staff, EPC supply chain manufacturers/vendors, EPC contractors, and Centrus augmented staff by direct involvement of specified areas for the construction of new facilities, modification of existing facilities. The efforts will include preparation of equipment specifications, conceptual and detailed certified-for-construction (CFC) designs to fabricate/construct, inspect, test, commission, and operate new plant infrastructure. </li><li>Periodic travel to various vendor locations is anticipated</li><li>Support generation of specific design criteria and system design requirements (SRDs) </li><li>Support identification and flow-down of configuration management criteria for identified component level systems, structures, components (SSC’s) as designated for items categorized as Items Relied on For Safety (IROFS)</li><li>Support development of acceptable fabrication, site acceptance testing (SAT), facility acceptance testing (FAT), and equipment installation specifications and testing aspects for specialized equipment following NQA-1 quality program as specified</li><li>Support development and implementation of Integrated System Test Plans (ISTPs) to demonstrate equipment meets design reliability and operational requirements</li><li>Establish preventive maintenance actions for the optimal service life of specialized equipment</li><li>Monitor project schedules, budgets, and progress, ensuring adherence to contractual requirements.</li><li>Identify and mitigate project risks, conflicts, and potential delays.</li><li>Review and track project budgets, ensuring cost control and financial efficiency.</li><li>Evaluate contractor invoices, change orders, and financial reports for accuracy and compliance.</li><li>Support the development, review/comment, and approval cycles of engineering documentation including, but not limited to, system requirements documents (SRDs), engineering evaluations (EE), equivalency substitutions evaluation (ESE), design analysis and calculations (DAC)s, Change Evaluations (CE), Job Field Instructions (JFI), Post Maintenance Testing (PMT)s, Preventive Maintenance determinations, and design verification test plans (TP)s</li><li>Perform field walkdowns within industrial work areas before, during, and after construction activities including wearing of specified PPE i.e., steel toed shoes, hardhat, safety glasses, etc.</li><li>Other duties as assigned.</li></ul>

Qualifications:
<ul><li>Bachelor of science degree in engineering from an Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology (ABET) accredited college or equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.  BS degrees in Architecture or Construction Management will also be considered.</li><li>5-7 years’ engineering experience, preferably in a construction environment</li><li>Be able to obtain and maintain a “Q” level security clearance</li></ul>Stronger Candidates Will Have:<ul><li>Currently possess a “Q” level security clearance</li><li>Project management/engineer experience preferred.</li><li>Mechanical, Civil, Electrical, and or Chemical engineering discipline preferred</li><li>Effective in multiple communication modes with various vendors, suppliers, and internal team members</li><li>Possess effective oral and written communication skills</li></ul>
