Duties of this position include, but are not limited to, the following: Patrol public areas, restricted spaces, and building entrances to maintain security and deter disruptive or unauthorized activity; Understand, operate, and monitor security systems and equipment, including cameras, access control systems, and screening devices, and report malfunctions or concerns to supervisory staff; Observe visitor activity and respond to disturbances, safety concerns, or potentially disruptive situations to help maintain a safe and orderly environment; Monitor entrances and exits of the building to ensure security and proper access control, and prevent unauthorized entry into restricted areas; Inspect facilities for hazardous or unsafe conditions and report concerns to appropriate staff to ensure timely correction; Respond to emergencies, including medical incidents, fires, alarms, or building evacuations, and assist with directing visitors and staff during emergency situations; Prepare written reports documenting incidents, security observations, and activities occurring during assigned shifts; Assist supervisory staff in maintaining security coverage during high-traffic periods, special events, or other operational needs; and. Security duties on a United States military base or vessel include working as military police or as security personnel performing foot and motorized patrol, control of pedestrian and vehicular traffic, flight line security, and crime prevention/physical security.
