Job Summary: Performs variety of technical, patient-attending, and clerical duties pertaining to echocardiography. Essential Responsibilities: <ul><li> </li><li> Obtains, measures, calculates, and records echocardiogram study. Positions patient in manner that will facilitate optimum diagnostic results. </li><li> </li><li> Selects transducer angulation. Operates equipment in M-mode, 2D, and spectral Doppler and color Doppler techniques. </li><li> </li><li> Searches for cardiac pathology. Visualizes various anatomical areas of heart. by way of Doppler and evaluates direction and speed of intracardiac blood flow. Assesses cardiac valves for pathology. Makes permanent record of significant functional and/or anatomical and pathological data obtained. </li><li> </li><li> Reviews, screens, and measures echocardiography data notifying cardiologist of critical abnormalities. Compiles, records, and collates data for cardiologist to interpret and sign for patients record. </li><li> </li><li> Performs echocardiography studies on outpatients and inpatients according to level of expertise/experience of sonographer. Refers significant problems to Biomedical Department and Alerts supervisor of equipment malfunction. </li><li> </li><li> Ensures adequate stock of supplies. Replenishes supplies as needed. </li><li> </li><li> Schedules patients for examinations. Logs tests performed in echo lab and codes for proper fee collection. Performs other varied clerical tasks such as typing, filing, and photocopying. Gathers, collates, and/or computes echocardiology data. </li><li> </li><li> Orients and trains new hire diagnostic cardiac sonographers to conduct various echocardiography tests. </li></ul> Basic Qualifications: Experience <ul><li> </li><li> Minimum two (2) years of experience in adult or pediatric echocardiography, including experience or successful completion of training program (pre-hire, post-hire, or on-the-job) in area of specialty, if applicable. </li><li> </li></ul> Education <ul><li> Successful completion of accredited (CAAHEP/CMA approved or equivalent) ultrasound/vascular technology education program specializing in echocardiography; or equivalent related experience. </li></ul> License, Certification, Registration <ul><li> Registered Cardiac Sonographer Certificate OR Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Certificate </li></ul><ul><li> Basic Life Support from American Heart Association </li></ul> Additional Requirements: <ul><li> Demonstrated knowledge of and skill in customer service, interpersonal relations, oral communication, problem solving, teamwork and written communication. </li></ul> Preferred Qualifications: <ul><li> N/A </li></ul>

Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer Senior

Post processes US images and prepares final Sonographer interpretation as required; prepares images for Radiologist interpretation, and transmitts images to the Diagnostic Imaging PACS system. Minimum two (2) years post-graduate sonography experience, including experience or successful completion of training program (pre-hire, post-hire, or on-the-job) in area of specialty, if applicable.

Job Summary: Under direct and indirect supervision, and medical direction of physician section head, performs diagnostic, therapeutic, and biopsy ultrasound procedures. Essential Responsibilities: <ul><li> </li><li> Performs ultrasound (US) studies and biopsy/aspiration procedures. Positions patients and provides immobilization means and patient counseling as required. Selects proper transducer frequency for performance of study. Reviews orders, prepares schedules and consults with attending Radiologists and Registered Nurses as needed. Recognizes electronic equipment limitations. Recognizes significance of all structures visualized sonographically. Determines artifacts as well as normal anatomy as appropriate for creating a comprehensive final study. Remains able to deviate from normal techniques when necessary to provide wider latitude of visualization. Collaborates with referring physicians to plan or arrange appropriate studies when needed. Maintains daily records of exams performed. </li><li> </li><li> Protocols orders from Protocol Worklist prior to releasing orders for scheduling. </li><li> </li><li> Follows all National Patient Safety Goals. Receives and double identifies patients using appropriate criteria prior to performing the study ordered. Ensures accruacy of information and data entry, while maintaining patient privacy and confidentiality. Captures required documentation in Radiology Information System (RIS.) Assists with screening patients for contraindications to study or procedure. </li><li> </li><li> Prepares sterile fields; prepares floor stock medications; ensures sterility of surgical packs, trays and disposables to be used in assigned area. Maintains appropriate operational understanding of transducer/probe disinfectant devices. Maintains appropriate and adequate supplies during the procedures. </li><li> </li><li> Assists radiologist during procedures; capturing specific images and assisting with biopsy specimen collection.
