Other duties may be assignedMaintains care and custody of inmatesProcesses inmates into custody of correctional institution, conducts searches of prisoners and inventories personal property, provides clothing, bedding, eating utensils and provides inmate orientationEnsures security of courtrooms prior to and during court sessionsServes and executes all processes issued from General District court, Circuit Court and Juvenile Court, including out-of-state processes requiring personal serviceConducts periodic security checks of inmates in living areas within the jail and court facilitiesEnsures that special needs of prisoners are metTransports and supervises the movement of prisoners to and from court and as otherwise requiredServes notices on executions, levy on personal property and seizes property when bond is furnishedEnsures that offenders are fingerprinted and processed in accordance with departmental policies, laws and regulations Handles emergencies, i.e., fire evacuations, riots, disturbances and hostages situations which may occur within the jail or courthouseResponds to and resolves incidents involving physical confrontations between inmatesMaintains automated inmate records; including access of VCIN and NCICTestifies in court proceedings in both criminal and civil casesProvides direction and supervision for inmate community work programsMonitors camera and surveillance equipment in main control roomEnsures proper security of inmates, staff and visitors to the court and jail facilities Ensures proper order and decorum among inmatesEnforces institution rules and regulationsPrepares reports and other daily recordsProvides information which is legally permissible to citizens, police officers and other criminal justice agenciesPerforms medical screening on inmates upon commitmentMaintains financial records and reports and custody and accountability for inmate fundsEnsures that inmate records are current and up to dateEnsures the proper retention, storage and destruction of departmental recordsEnsures that inmate sentences are legally calculated and served in accordance with departmental policy and existing laws and regulationsSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES This job has no supervisory responsibilities. PPO/HRA 1500 - Provides 100% coverage for preventive care; has higher deductible and out-of-pocket maximum than the PPO 300 plan; has lower employee premiums than the PPO 300 plan; and the employer makes contributions to an account through a Health Reimbursement Arrangement (HRA).
