Key ResponsibilitiesGenerate new business opportunities and develop relationships with prospective clientsMaintain and grow relationships with existing clients, venues, planners, and industry partnersAssess client needs and develop customized proposals that align with their goals and budgetGuide clients through the sales process from inquiry to signed contractPrepare proposals, contracts, invoices, and event documentationManage accounts receivable and ensure timely collection of paymentsDevelop a strong understanding of Catering by Michaels menus, services, and event capabilitiesCollaborate closely with culinary, operations, and sales teams to ensure seamless event executionAttend menu meetings, sales meetings, and production meetings as scheduledParticipate in networking events, trade shows, and industry associationsRepresent Catering by Michaels at community, hospitality, and professional eventsAttend client events when necessary to ensure successful execution and relationship developmentMonitor industry trends, competitor activity, and market opportunitiesMaintain professional communication through email, phone, and in-person meetingsPerform additional duties and special projects as assignedQualificationsMinimum of 3 years of successful off-premise catering sales experience with a proven track record of resultsDegree from an accredited institution or 4 or more years of experience in hospitality, catering, and culinary salesExperience with Caterease or similar event management software preferredAbility to sell, plan, and service events ranging from 10 to 1,000+ guestsActive involvement in professional catering, hospitality, or related organizations preferredPassion for food, beverage, hospitality, and event experiencesKnowledge of wine, spirits, and beer preferredStrong ability to build relationships and earn client trustExcellent organizational and multitasking skillsOutstanding verbal and written communication abilitiesProfessional appearance and demeanorAbility to manage multiple events, timelines, and priorities simultaneouslyStrong business acumen and problem-solving skillsProficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and OutlookFlexible schedule including occasional evenings, weekends, and holidays as required by client needsWork EnvironmentThis role is based in our Morton Grove office and supports events throughout Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
