A skilled mentor with be assigned to the intern for the duration of the internship. This mentor will provide training and complete weekly reviews to assess progress and answer questions. The intern will gain insight into numerous datasets used for crop analytics including weather data, input pricing, field sampling, potato quality, and yields. This internship offers the opportunity to gain experience with real-world applications of data science curriculum. The intern will be working in collaboration with other members across the North American Ag Services team. Our College is an aspiring Hispanic-Serving Institution (HSI).Description: Walla Walla Community College is accepting applications to fill the part-time role of ABE/GED/HS+/ELA Adjunct Faculty in the Corrections Education program located at the Coyote Ridge Corrections Center in Connell, Washington.General Responsibilities: Faculty members are professional educators with the primary responsibility of providing a quality education for all WWCC students.  The relationship of the faculty member to the student is one of teacher, mentor, and facilitator of learning.  This position reports to the Director of Adult Basic Education at Coyote Ridge Corrections Center (CRCC) and will be responsible for teaching classes to offenders housed at CRCC.   Successful candidates will teach assigned classes, prepare teaching materials, assign grades, maintain records, and consult with students as required by the instructional division. This position is filled to fulfill a contract awarded to Walla Walla Community College (WWCC) by the <a href="https://www.sbctc.edu/colleges-staff/programs-services/prisons/default.aspx" rel="nofollow">Washington State Board for Community and Technical Colleges</a> (WSBCTC) to operate a correctional education program at Coyote Ridge Corrections Center in accordance with an interagency agreement with the Department of Corrections. Walla Walla Community College and its employees working in a correctional education program are expected to follow all Department of Corrections (DOC) Policies, IT and other Security requirements, follow DOC Operational Memorandums, and comply with the Superintendent’s directions.  Essential Responsibilities:<ul><li>Teach ABE, GED, ELA (English Language Acquisition) and/or HS+ classes utilizing both lecture and laboratory modes of instruction.</li><li>Participate in curriculum revision, program management, and research related activities.</li><li>Interview and place prospective students into the program.</li><li>Maintain assessment records and student progress accountability measures on all students enrolled in the assigned course sections.</li><li>Track, maintain, and assign grades.</li><li>Ensure that classroom/lab and equipment are in excellent condition and maintained.</li><li>Participate in meetings and trainings as required by WWCC and DOC.</li></ul>Competencies<ul><li>Ability to interact with those in custody and/or the public according to expected guidelines; treat people with dignity and respect.  </li><li>Ability to effectively combine an array of methods to enhance understanding, including demonstrations, lectures, group discussions and activities, individual activities, etc.  </li><li>Understand which teaching methods best serve the student’s needs, interests, and ability to learn.</li><li>Ability to recognize the value of cultural, ethnic, gender and other individual differences in people.</li><li>Ability to build constructive working relationships characterized by a high level of acceptance, cooperation and mutual respect.</li><li>Ability to develop accurate standards to measure learning or administer testing or other evaluations to determine effectiveness and ensure a high level of comprehension has been achieved.</li></ul> Required Qualifications: Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered at the discretion of the college. Must reside in either WA, OR, ID, CA, IL, PA, or TX. <ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in an academic subject area required; master’s degree desired.</li><li>Experience teaching in a correctional facility desired.</li><li>Experience as an instructional trainer/teacher at the secondary or post-secondary level, correctional, industrial, corporate, and/or workplace setting desired.</li><li>Curriculum development and evaluation, student advising and student recruitment experience desired.</li></ul>You don’t check every qualification listed?
