Determines student eligibility based on verification documents and interactive process; reviews information with student to determine educational limitations and creates accommodation letters; manages implementation of accommodation services; Counsels students with disabilities considering Career and Technical programs, local degrees and/or transfers to other colleges; assists students in selecting an appropriate major and institution; Assists students with disabilities and exploring and defining their personal college goal; assists faculty, administrators, staff, and advocates in supporting and understanding these needs; maintains regular contact with faculty members regarding student issues and concerns; Helps students become more knowledgeable about their aptitudes, interests, values, and achievement levels; assists students in planning their selection of courses; Stays current with transfer requirements of other colleges and vocational training institutions; acts as a resource for faculty concerning the transfer process to a four-year college; Interviews students who are officially withdrawing from the College, on probation, on academic dismissal or petitioning to graduate; Assists in developing an effective matriculation process for new students, to include a comprehensive student education plan; Refers students who require more specialized counseling to appropriate agencies in the community; Assists students in clarifying their educational and career goals, develop comprehensive educational plans and maintain currency as it relates to institutional and/or transfer requirements; Teaches students how to view available course offerings and register for courses; Assists students in planning their selection of courses; Utilizes and stays abreast of advanced counseling methods and student development theories which include integrating technology to support student learning and career objectives; Assists faculty, administrators, staff, in recognizing student needs, issues and concerns; Provides intervention services for students such as early alert; Participates in regularly scheduled counseling department meetings Performs other counseling duties as assigned; Prepares and maintains academic counseling notes, required forms, and/or paperwork needed to assist students; Assist in planning, developing, and implementing effective support for Transfer efforts to a four-year college/university; Assists in planning, implementing, and evaluation the Counseling program through Program Review; Assist the Counseling department in developing Service Learning Outcomes; Assist the departmental planning and implementing staff development activities; Assist with the curriculum development of College and Career Success Courses; Serve on a variety of college committees; Evening or weekend work may be required on occasion, with schedule modified. ABILITY TO: Effectively instruct assigned courses using a variety of techniques and methods of delivery; evaluate and develop curriculum and instructional materials; assess student academic progress; maintain records; consistently communicate effectively both verbally and in writing, and work collaboratively with colleagues in the department and across the district; teach at variable locations and hours, including evenings, weekends and online.
