In addition to maintaining an acceptable level of research and scholarship, the chair's primary duties include managing the department budget and seeking external funds; recruiting, hiring, supervising, and evaluating faculty and staff; recruiting, advising, and assisting students; maintaining relevant employee and student records, producing various reports for the Dean's Office, building collaborative partnerships, and providing vision and leadership to the Department.
