Job Title: General Education Teacher – Adolescent Residential Program Location: Kingsland, GA Employment Type: Full-Time Schedule: Monday–Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:00 PM Salary: $40-$45k Reports To: Clinical Director Supervisory Responsibilities: None<hr/><h2>Position Overview</h2>We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate General Education Teacher to provide educational services within a residential behavioral health setting serving adolescents ages 11–17. This role supports students currently receiving treatment for behavioral health concerns including, but not limited to, self-harm, aggression, suicidal ideation, substance use, trauma, mood instability, depression, and anxiety.The Teacher will assist students in completing grade-level academic requirements while coordinating educational case management and planning for successful school reintegration following discharge. The ideal candidate thrives in a structured therapeutic environment, enjoys working with students who require additional care and support, and understands the intersection of education and behavioral health.<hr/><h2>Key Responsibilities</h2><ul><li>Provide individualized and small-group instruction tailored to each student’s academic level and treatment plan.</li><li>Develop and implement lesson plans that accommodate emotional, behavioral, and cognitive needs.</li><li>Collaborate closely with therapists, case managers, and the multidisciplinary treatment team to align educational strategies with therapeutic goals.</li><li>Assist students with academic assignments, projects, testing preparation, and completion of grade-level requirements.</li><li>Monitor, document, and communicate academic progress and concerns to appropriate stakeholders.</li><li>Implement trauma-informed teaching strategies to create a safe, structured, and supportive classroom environment.</li><li>Adapt instructional materials to support students with IEPs and 504 Plans.</li><li>Provide educational case management and coordinate post-discharge school reintegration planning.</li><li>Participate in interdisciplinary team meetings to review student progress and contribute to holistic care planning.</li><li>Maintain compliance with all educational standards, documentation requirements, and safety protocols within the residential setting.</li></ul><hr/><h2>Required Qualifications</h2>Education:<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field.</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>0–1 years of teaching or tutoring experience required.</li><li>Experience working with behavioral health populations preferred.</li><li>Experience delivering psychoeducational groups or lectures preferred.</li><li>Experience managing a student or client caseload preferred.</li></ul>Licensure (Preferred):<ul><li>Georgia licensure in counseling or related field (LMHC, LMFT, LCSW, LAPC, LPC) preferred but not required.</li></ul>Background & Eligibility Requirements:<ul><li>Must pass a Level 2 background check (national criminal history and fingerprinting).</li><li>No felony or substance abuse convictions within the past five (5) years.</li><li>If in recovery, must demonstrate a minimum of two (2) years continuous sobriety prior to hire.</li></ul><hr/><h2>Knowledge & Skills</h2><ul><li>Adolescent Education: Strong understanding of middle and high school instructional strategies, individualized learning plans, and academic modifications.</li><li>Behavioral Health Awareness: Knowledge of how trauma, anxiety, depression, and substance use impact learning and behavior.</li><li>Classroom Management: Ability to establish structure, set expectations, and maintain a therapeutic learning environment.</li><li>Trauma-Informed Care: Familiarity with trauma-responsive teaching practices.</li><li>Crisis Intervention: Ability to de-escalate emotional or behavioral crises effectively.</li><li>IEP & 504 Plan Knowledge: Working knowledge of legal requirements and accommodations.</li><li>Special Education Practices: Understanding of modifications and differentiated instruction for diverse learners.</li><li>Case Management: Ability to track academic progress, document outcomes, and coordinate school transition plans.</li><li>Collaboration: Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary team.</li><li>Adaptability: Comfortable working in a fast-paced, emotionally demanding environment.</li></ul><hr/><h2>Benefits</h2><ul><li>Paid Time Off (PTO)</li><li>Health Insurance</li><li>Dental Insurance</li><li>Vision Insurance</li><li>Life Insurance</li></ul><hr/>If you are passionate about supporting adolescents in a structured, therapeutic setting and believe in the power of education as part of recovery, we encourage you to apply.Powered by JazzHR
