Position SummaryThe ESE/SPED Teacher role provides instruction and guidance to youth within the appropriate grade and/or academic level. Assess and teach youth with special needs in accordance to recognized curriculum standards, and compliance with instructional guidelines as defined by the local School District and educational systems. Primary objective is the realization of AMIkids mission to provide a safe and successful learning environment for youth, while encouraging social and emotional development through the achievement of academic and personal goals.Essential Job Duties<ul><li>Identify, prepare, and teach youth appropriately based on results from the Individual Education Plans (IEP), ensure re-assessments are provided as needed,</li><li>Effectively implement AMIkids Way (Kids First, Safety, and Family) and key elements of Positive Youth Development (Relationships, Meaningful Participation, Community Involvement, and Challenged & Engaged</li><li>Programming) and the AMIkids Personal Growth Model (PGM) in all interactions with students,</li><li>Actively ensure all interactions reflect Kids First, Safety, Family, Relationships, Meaningful Participation,</li><li>Challenge and Engaged environment and Community Involvement,</li><li>Interactions with youth shall maintain an environment that provides a physically/emotionally safe space for youth and effective learning, growth, and progress toward individualized goals,</li><li>Model supportive, consistent, respectful behavior with all parties to ensure an atmosphere that fosters healthy relationships, trust, and mutual respect; set clear boundaries and provide observations and reflection to youth,</li><li>Obtain school records and revise the IEP for each youth according to federal, state, and local guidelines,</li><li>Ensure each youth is instructed in the least restrictive environment,</li><li>Provide instructional staff with guidelines on accommodating individual youth needs,</li><li>Generate reports in accordance with IEP requirements,</li><li>Maintain accurate education records (e.g., attendance, grades, lesson planning, progress monitoring),</li><li>Provide professional instruction and teaching to a diverse population of youth as appropriate to the specified course or discipline and academic level,</li><li>Adhere to established standards regarding curriculum delivery, educational guidelines and quality assurance requirements as established by AMIkids and the applicable contract providers,</li><li>Effective use of the behavior and skills training component of the personal growth model,</li><li>Utilize and establish effective interpersonal skills within the workplace,</li><li>Exhibit patience and empathy in appropriate situations,</li><li>Participate in staff meetings and professional development opportunities,</li><li>Maintain cleanliness of classrooms and education facility,</li><li>Coordinate youth activities with the Lead Teacher, Director of Education, Program Manager, Director of Operations and/or Executive Director,</li><li>Maintain appropriate work habits, including regular and punctual attendance,</li><li>Maintain appropriate certification(s) and license(s),</li><li>Serve as advisor and positive role model for youth at all times,</li><li>Actively supervise and/or coordinate day trips and special activities that involve recreational sports, facility and equipment cleaning, grounds maintenance and equipment relocation,</li><li>Attend and maintain appropriate crisis intervention/de-escalation training and certification as defined by state and contract requirements,</li><li>Attend and maintain CPR and First Aid certification by nationally recognized organization,</li><li>Assist with special projects and other duties as assigned.</li></ul>Minimum Education, Training and Experience<ul><li>Bachelor’s Degree in Education, the academic discipline being delivered, or related field,</li><li>Possess and maintain current SPED/ESE Teaching Certification,</li><li>Teaching or coursework experience, or other similar activity in area of primary instruction required; experience working with high-risk youth preferred</li></ul>Perks and Benefits:What we offer to our Team Members are: Teacher Evaluation Bonuses (performance-based), Bonuses for Additional Certificates Attained, Reimbursement for Continued Education, Classroom Pride Funding, Growth Opportunities (we develop our leaders from within); Health Benefits to eligible full-time employees, 9 Paid Holidays and PTO, Wellness Benefits (EAP, Health Coaching), Retirement Plans (yes more than 1) and more!
