<h4>Job Summary</h4>Vanteon is actively looking for Engineering Coops for the upcoming semesters. The position will be responsible for assisting our experienced team of hardware, embedded software, and FPGA engineers develop solutions for our clients. In addition, you will help support IRAD developments, such as Vanteon's vProtean SDR platform.<h4>Duties/Responsibilities</h4>The following is a list of the expected duties of this position. Management will adjust them to align with your previous experience and education.<ul><li>Take direction from assigned mentor and project manager on daily tasks</li><li>Write HDL code for FPGAs</li><li>Write code for microprocessors (C, C++, Python, or other)</li><li>Work with hardware design tools (e.g., Altium) to create schematics and PCB layouts</li><li>Work in the lab to build or rework printed circuit boards</li><li>Work in the lab using test equipment (e.g., Oscilloscopes, Spectrum Analyzers, and more) to test circuits</li></ul><h4>Required Skills & Knowledge</h4><ul><li>Some knowledge of coding for embedded processors or FPGAs is required, or</li><li>Knowledge of hardware design for PCBs (i.e., schematics and PCB layout)</li></ul><h4>Desired Skills:</h4><ul><li>Excellent analytical and communication skills</li><li>Highly motivated self-starter, well organized</li></ul><h4>Education and Experience:</h4><ul><li>Students actively pursuing a Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering Tech, Electrical Engineering Tech, or similar degree.</li></ul><h4>Other Requirements</h4><ul><li>Training and regular duties require a regular in-office presence. Hybrid/flexible scheduling is available based on business needs.</li><li>Although minimal, some circumstances may require a weekly commitment above 40 hours or hours outside of regular business hours.</li></ul><h4>Physical Requirements</h4><ul><li>Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer</li><li>Be able to perform low to moderately strenuous physical activities requiring standing, walking, and reaching.</li><li>Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.</li></ul>The physical demands described above represent those that an employee must meet to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. We currently perform these engineering services related to natural gas transmission, distribution main design, station design (M&R, gate stations, and regulator stations) and customer services (residential and commercial) for a variety of natural gas customers throughout the Northeast. Our dynamic team is comprised of experienced natural gas engineers, civil and mechanical engineers, surveyors, gas construction personnel as well as in-house staff expertise in the areas of legal, compliance, and safety. The Engineering co-op is responsible for assisting the Engineering Department with ongoing Land Development and/or Energy Design projects. Will involve working closely with Project Managers and other Engineering staff to collect detailed data and gather information or documents, permitting and performing basic redlining, survey field/mapping tasks while utilizing AutoCAD Map 3D.
