Student Nursing Aide FunctionsMay perform the following nursing duties under the delegation, direction and supervision of the Licensed Nurse on duty: <ol><li>Obtaining vital signs, glucometer, and pulse oximetry readings</li><li>Assisting residents with feeding</li><li>Dressing changes limited to the application of simple bandaging (No wet-dry or sterile dressing change per NHS)</li><li>Maintenance of ostomies (e.g. colostomy and urostomy) to include measuring and application of wafer board</li><li>Restorative care to include ambulation with gait belt, walker, crutches and/or wheelchair</li><li>Restorative care to include active and passive range of motion (ROM) exercises and contracture care</li><li>Peripheral Venous Phlebotomy for laboratory analysis</li><li>Application of oxygen via nasal cannula</li><li>Initiation and discontinuation of nebulizer treatments to EXCLUDE racemic epinephrine administration of residents and any suspected or confirmed diagnosis of COVID-19 of residents.</li><li>Administration of routine screening tests/immunizations (e.g. flu and TB).</li><li>Documentation of all procedures and/or medications administered in the facility electronic medical records platform and paper records as delegated by the licensed nurse.</li><li>Administration of routine medications with certain</li><li>Participate in the implementation of the facility’s quality assurance program for the nursing service department.</li></ol>Qualifications<ol><li>Must be Nursing Student currently enrolled in an approved school of nursing education program with the following credentials and demonstrated competencies:</li><li>Successfully completed coursework in Pharmacology, Medication Administration, Nursing Fundamentals</li><li>Must have document from school of coursework to include nursing fundamentals, pharmacology and medication administration</li><li>Must demonstrate competency in fundamental areas within the scope and guidelines of the Board of Nursing for Nursing Student Aide</li><li>Must be a minimum of Eighteen (18) years of age</li><li>Must be able to speak, read, write, and understand English</li><li>Must have patience, tact, enthusiasm, and a positive attitude toward the elderly and disabled.</li></ol>Benefits: <ol><li>Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Alabama Gold Plan Health Insurance (low cost!) </li><li>Dental Insurance </li><li>401k/matched </li><li>PTO </li><li>Paid Holidays </li><li>Very attractive employee referral bonus plan</li></ol> We are an equal opportunity employer and value diversity at our company. The Respiratory Therapy Student works under the direction of a Licensed Respiratory Therapist. The Respiratory Therapy Student is responsible for maintaining an appropriate level of equipment in various respiratory work areas and assisting the Respiratory Therapists and physicians with various procedures and tasks, as directed.

Responsibilities:
Essential Functions • Students may perform patient care duties in accordance with state law. • Maintain the supply of medical gas cylinders in the respiratory department and all related areas. • Restocks supplies and retrieves equipment, as necessary. • Maintains appropriate levels of equipment in the various respiratory care work areas. • Performs routine assembly, maintenance, cleaning, and calibration of diverse types of respiratory care equipment. • Reports equipment malfunctions to appropriate personnel. • Maintains a clean and safe environment. • Attends and participates in staff meetings/huddles. • Completes required education and training as needed. • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Baptist Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards. • Maintains compliance with all Baptist Health policies and procedures. • Consistently uses time and resources effectively and efficiently. • Performs all other assigned duties.

Qualifications:
Education/Training • Respiratory Care student currently enrolled in a CoARC or successor Respiratory Care Program at a college or university. • Maintain a status of good standing within the enrolled CoARC or successor Respiratory Care Program. Licensure/Certification • Maintains BLS / Healthcare provider certifications. • Proof of continued enrollment in a CoARC-accredited program with no break in enrollment. Experience Concurrent enrollment in a CoARC or successor-approved Respiratory Therapy program, not to exceed their official Respiratory Program pinning ceremony.
