The Student Health Manager is responsible for managing and coordinating student health services through a holistic and evidence-based approach that fosters physical, emotional, and mental well-being. Coursework in community needs assessment, program planning and evaluation is preferred.Skills and Requirements: New York State Licensed Registered Nurse required. Certification in Adult CPR/AED/First Aid required. Two years of experience in college or community health preferred. Experience in health promotion and wellness programming preferred. Understanding of public health laws and college health program requirements (FERPA, HIPAA, NYS immunization laws) required. Demonstrated interpersonal, communication, leadership, and organizational skills. Ability to develop and assess programs based on student needs and data. Competence with electronic health records systems (e.g., PyraMED) preferred.Essential Functions:Program Oversight<ol><li>Oversees and evaluates student health and wellness programs.</li><li>Develops and maintains policies and procedures related to student health services.</li><li>Conducts health screenings, physical assessments, and maintain student health records.</li><li>Ensures compliance with applicable local, state, and federal regulations (e.g., HIPAA, FERPA).</li><li>Assesses, implements, evaluates, and revises evidence-based strategies to support student wellness.</li></ol>Clinical Health Services<ol><li>Provides health services within the scope of nursing practice based on College Health Nursing Standards.</li><li>Reviews health histories and immunization records for compliance and completeness.</li><li>Collaborates with contracted physicians, specialists, and external health providers.</li><li>Maintains and monitors secure electronic student health records using PyraMED.</li><li>Administers first aid, over-the-counter medications, and manages inventory and medical supplies.</li><li>Assists students in acquiring health insurance through NY State of Health.</li></ol>Training and Support<ol><li>Provides health-related training and professional development to college staff.</li><li>Trains campus personnel in health screening techniques, emergency responses, and health protocols.</li><li>Supports orientation and certification efforts for staff regarding student health needs.</li></ol>Coordination and Collaboration<ol><li>Serves as a liaison to healthcare providers, community agencies, and college departments.</li><li>Represents the College in health-related community partnerships and initiatives.</li><li>Collaborates with academic departments to ensure student medical compliance for specific programs (e.g., Nursing, Therapeutic Massage, EMT).</li><li>Develops and maintains MOUs with local health organizations providing services to the Center for Student Well-Being.</li></ol>Crisis Management and Referrals<ol><li>Serves as the point of contact for students, faculty, and staff regarding health concerns.</li><li>Refers students to appropriate resources for alcohol/drug addiction and other wellness-related concerns.</li><li>Works collaboratively with the Director of Counseling, Director of Housing and Residence Life, and the Senior Director, Center for student Well-Being on substance use education and prevention.</li></ol>Administrative and Fiscal Management<ol><li>Reviews the annual budget expenditures related to health services with the Senior Director, Center for Student Well-Being.</li><li>In conjunction with the Senior Director, Center for Student Well-Being, reviews contracts and service agreements.</li><li>Recruits, trains, supervises, and evaluates professional, support, and student staff.</li><li>Uses electronic health data to compile clinical activity reports for internal and external stakeholders.</li><li>Ensures appropriate medication storage and accurate health documentation.</li></ol>Advocacy and Promotion<ol><li>Advocates for institutional policies that support student health and wellness.</li><li>Develops and promotes health education campaigns, prevention programs, and awareness events.</li><li>Represents the College on committees and task forces addressing student health and wellness.</li><li>Provides medical absence notifications to faculty for hospitalized students as appropriate.</li></ol>Professional Engagement<ol><li>Maintains current knowledge of effective college health strategies and nursing practices.</li><li>Remains active in professional organizations such as the American College Health Association (ACHA), NYS College Health Association (NYSCHA), and others.</li><li>Attends professional development events and incorporate best practices into service delivery.</li></ol>Personal Attributes<ol><li>Ability to work both independently and collaboratively.</li><li>Problem-solving mindset and ability to manage health crises.</li><li>Commitment to promoting diversity, equity, and inclusion in all health service delivery.</li></ol>Work Environment and Physical Demands<ol><li>Office and clinical setting; may require mobility across campus.</li><li>Ability to lift up to 25 pounds and respond to emergency situations.</li><li>Occasional evening or weekend responsibilities related to health emergencies or events.</li></ol>Benefits and salary range:Applicants receiving benefits through the New York State Retirement System should review state regulations regarding post-retirement employment.
