Qualifications:

<p>Corrections Education at Community College of Vermont is looking for Student Assistants to support the delivery of postsecondary educational programming within the Vermont Department of Corrections (VDOC) facilities in St. Albans, Newport, South Burlington, and Springfield.</p><h4><strong>Position Summary</strong></h4><p>The Corrections Education Student Assistant supports the delivery of postsecondary educational programming within the Vermont Department of Corrections (VDOC) facilities. This role provides on-site technical assistance to incarcerated students, ensures appropriate and secure use of technology, and supports faculty and program staff in maintaining an effective and professional learning environment within a correctional setting.</p><p>This position will work between 10-24 hours a week during the semester and the compensation is between $16.50 an $20 an hour, based on education level.  This position is not eligible for benefits.</p><h4><strong>Essential Duties and Responsibilities</strong></h4><ul><li>Monitor and observe student access to computers in accordance with VDOC and CCV policies and procedures</li><li>Maintain accurate inventory and tracking of computer usage, including the check-in and check-out of SecureBooks and related equipment</li><li>Provide basic computer troubleshooting support (e.g., login issues, printing, device functionality)</li><li>Print, organize, and distribute course materials and instructional resources to students</li><li>Support faculty and program staff with classroom and lab setup as needed</li><li>Ensure compliance with all facility rules, security protocols, and confidentiality requirements</li><li>Maintain professionalism and appropriate boundaries with students at all times</li><li>Communicate effectively with CPSEI staff and facility personnel regarding issues, concerns, or equipment needs</li><li>Perform other related duties as assigned to support program operations</li></ul><h4><strong>Required Qualifications</strong></h4><ul><li>High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or college coursework preferred</li><li>Basic computer literacy, including familiarity with word processing, printing, and general troubleshooting</li><li>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail</li><li>Ability to maintain professionalism and composure in a correctional environment</li><li>Effective communication skills and ability to follow written and verbal instructions</li><li>Ability to work collaboratively with faculty, staff, and correctional personnel</li></ul><h4><strong>Preferred Qualifications</strong></h4><ul><li>Experience working in education, student support, or corrections-related environments</li><li>Experience supporting adult learners</li><li>Familiarity with learning management systems or educational technology</li></ul><h4><strong>Conditions of Employment</strong></h4><ul><li>Employment is contingent upon successfully clearing all Vermont Department of Corrections (VDOC) background and security checks.</li><li>Failure to obtain or maintain VDOC clearance will result in inability to perform essential job functions and may lead to termination of employment.</li><li>Must comply with all VDOC facility rules, policies, and security requirements at all</li></ul><h4><strong>Work Environment and Physical Requirements</strong></h4><ul><li>Work is performed within a correctional facility setting</li><li>May require standing, walking, and monitoring student activity for extended periods</li><li>Must be able to lift and carry materials and equipment (up to approximately 25 pounds)</li></ul><h4><strong>Reporting Relationship</strong></h4><p>Reports to the Associate Director of Corrections Education or designee.</p><h4><strong></strong></h4><h4><strong>Addition information</strong></h4><p><em>CCV values individual differences that can be engaged in the service of learning.
