Overview:
The Precision Apiculture Research Group, headed by Dr. Vladimir Kulyukin in the School of Computing at Utah State University, is seeking a part-time Image Annotator to assist with the curation of FAIRHiveFrames, a large-scale dataset of annotated beehive frame images collected by USDA researchers between 2013 and 2022. The dataset supports research in artificial intelligence, computer vision, and precision apiculture, with the long-term goal of developing automated methods for biological analysis of digital hive frame imagery. The successful candidate will work closely with computer scientists and researchers involved in AI-intensive image analysis and biological measurement.

Responsibilities:
The annotator will:<ul><li>Annotate digital hive frame images using specialized image annotation software;</li><li>Label biologically meaningful categories such as: capped worker brood cells, capped drone brood cells, capped honey cells, pollen cells, uncapped nectar cells, bees, queen cups, and related hive-frame structures;</li><li>Perform careful visual inspection of dense hive frame imagery;</li><li>Participate in periodic annotation review and quality-control sessions;</li><li>Maintain consistency and accuracy across large image collections.</li></ul>Training in the annotation software and annotation protocol will be provided on site. The annotator will identify and label biologically meaningful hive-frame structures whose interpretation often requires practical beekeeping knowledge and careful visual judgment.

Qualifications:
Minimum Qualifications<ul><li>Demonstrable experience in practical beekeeping, apiculture, entomology, or closely related agricultural work;</li><li>Strong attention to detail and ability to perform sustained visual analysis;</li><li>Ability to interpret biologically meaningful structures in dense hive frame imagery;</li><li>Basic computer proficiency.</li></ul>Experience with beekeeping is especially valuable for interpreting biologically ambiguous regions. Preferred QualificationsPreference will be given to applicants with one or more of the following:<ul><li>Experience performing hive inspections;</li><li>Familiarity with brood, nectar, pollen, queen structures, and other hive-frame features;</li><li>Background in entomology, biology, agriculture, or related disciplines;</li><li>Prior experience with image annotation or biological imaging datasets;</li><li>Interest in precision apiculture and precision agriculture.</li></ul>

Overview:
The USU Athletics Academic Coordinator (Student Success Advisor) will support the academic needs of student-athletes in assigned sports and assist in the day-to-day operation of Student-Athlete Academic Services (SAAS). Sports will be assigned upon hiring. The Academic Coordinator assists student-athletes with academic progress in areas including academic study skills and learning strategies; educates student-athletes on NCAA, conference, and institutional eligibility requirements; and, in conjunction with campus advisors, guides student-athletes on course and major selection and career planning. The Academic Coordinator meets with student-athletes on a regular basis to monitor academic progress and review eligibility status.  Additionally, the Academic Coordinator will provide detailed reports and updates to coaches, compile semester grade/eligibility reports, and assist with the preparation of each assigned team’s Academic Progress Rate (APR) and Graduation Success Rate (GSR). The Academic Coordinator participates in recruiting activities, orientation, and SAAS events. This position reports to the Director for Student-Athlete Academic Services.

Responsibilities:
ACADEMICS<ul><li>Monitor admission process on all new incoming student-athletes for assigned sports</li><li>Assist in coordinating advising appointments with assigned student-athletes for course selection/registration</li><li>Monitor course selection for fulfillment of appropriate university course requirement fulfillment</li><li>Update coaches regularly with academic progress status</li><li>Serve as liaison between faculty/campus personnel and assigned student-athletes</li><li>Educate student-athletes on ACCESS/Banner registration, drops/adds, and other academic policies and procedures</li><li>Process end-of-term academic reports via Argos</li><li>Upload academic documents via Box</li></ul>ELIGIBILITY<ul><li>Monitor initial and transfer eligibility for incoming new student-athletes in assigned sports</li><li>Initiate Degree Progress Forms for Progress Towards Degree</li><li>Process and monitor continuing eligibility for assigned student-athletes</li><li>Timely communication with coaches regarding eligibility issues</li><li>Evaluate high school and college transcripts</li><li>Provide recruits with information regarding becoming an Aggie and being a student-athlete at Utah State University</li><li>Collaborate with NCAA Eligibility Coordinator (NEC) on transfer evaluation process</li></ul>RECRUITING<ul><li>Meet with official and unofficial prospective student-athletes in assigned sports</li><li>Review transcript evaluation with prospective student-athlete (PSA)</li><li>Highlight academic accomplishments of USU student-athletes</li><li>Provide recruits with information regarding becoming an Aggie and being a student-athlete at Utah State University.</li></ul>OTHER<ul><li>Process annual APR and GSR data for assigned sports</li><li>Maintain current and accurate roster of student-athletes in assigned sports</li><li>Assist with SAAS events</li><li>Other projects and programs as assigned (student-athlete development programming, etc.) </li></ul>
