Student Interns will have the opportunity to assist with such routine tasks as brake jobs, oil changes, and other minor maintenance work. Student interns will also be instructed on opening work orders, documenting work performed; or be assigned to a parts room where they will research and order part and go out on parts deliveries. There may be other job shadowing opportunities with appropriate Fleet Management staff. Responsibilities may include serving a role within the Incident Command System to support the department's response to regional and statewide emergency situations.Minimum QualificationsMust be currently enrolled in an automotive or diesel repair technology program.Additional CommentsApplicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis. The School of Education offers undergraduate programs leading to initial certification in Childhood Education (1-6), Early Childhood Education (birth-2), Teaching Students with Disabilities (All Grades), and Adolescence Education (7-12) in English, Math, Science, Social Studies, and World Languages (French and Spanish).

A commitment to, and experience in, working effectively with students and educators from diverse backgrounds is essential.Primary responsibilities for this position include:<ul><li>Supervising student teachers in your area of certification(s)</li><li>Evaluating course assignments, which are completed as part of the student teaching experience</li><li>Mentoring student teachers through the formal observation process</li><li>Observe and gather assessment data on lessons conducted by student teachers at various school sites</li><li>Offer experienced and objective perspectives on overall classroom effectiveness</li><li>Provide descriptive feedback on a student teacher's execution of professional responsibilities (lesson planning, implementation and assessment, classroom interaction, maintenance of records)</li><li>Provide guidance and support in student teacher development of consistent classroom management practices conducive to learning, which promote respect for others and for cultural and linguistic diversity</li><li>Support student teachers relate teaching theory to classroom practice</li><li>Provide guidance and resources tailored to the needs of each teacher candidate</li><li>Conducting a final evaluation for each teacher candidate to determine proficiency in four areas: Planning & Preparation, Learning Environment, Instruction, and Professionalism</li><li>Providing a minimum of two seminars per student teaching placement</li><li>Serving as a liaison between the College and school/district sites and supporting cooperating teachers during the student teaching experience</li></ul>Student teaching supervisors are expected to travel to assigned school sites and must provide their own transportation. Mileage is reimbursed at the state rate.Note, that this is a part-time position.
