Responsibilities: Perform traffic engineering and project management tasks to deliver a wide variety of transportation planning, transit, traffic engineering, safety, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) projects for many, diverse clients. As a critical member of the team, you will perform a variety of engineering tasks and will receive both on-the-job and formal training as well as mentorship and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions.

Overview:
Kimley-Horn's Chattanooga, Tennessee (TN) office is seeking a Civil Engineer-in-Training (EIT) with 2+ years of experience to join their Transportation/Traffic team. 

Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Perform traffic engineering and project management tasks to deliver a wide variety of transportation planning, transit, traffic engineering, safety, and intelligent transportation systems (ITS) projects for many, diverse clients</li><li>Has an entrepreneurial spirit, creating a vision for growth in their personal practice while contributing to the growth of our well-established transportation practice</li><li>Assist with managing their projects profitably</li><li>Engage in hands-on practice and delivery of projects</li><li>Transition work to qualified staff</li><li>Act as a positive leader and mentor</li><li>Contribute significantly to marketing and business development efforts and have the autonomy to pursue their own passions, leads, and clients</li><li>As a critical member of the team, you will perform a variety of engineering tasks and will receive both on-the-job and formal training as well as mentorship and exposure to plan production, project financials, and client interactions</li></ul>

Qualifications:
<ul><li>2+ years of traffic engineering experience that could include:<ul><li>Preparing and/or reviewing traffic impact studies for small and large projects</li><li>Preparing parking studies</li><li>Preparing site access and circulation studies</li></ul></li><li>Bachelors or Masters from an ABET accredited university in the field of Civil Engineering</li><li>"Engineer-In-Training" or "Engineering Intern" certification (or ability to obtain within 12 months)</li><li>Experience using Synchro, VISSIM, and/or other traffic analysis software applications</li><li>Communicating technical thoughts clearly and concisely</li><li>Excellent technical writing skills</li><li>Detail-oriented with an ability to contribute to a positive work environment</li><li>Ability to work independently and as a team</li><li>This is not a remote position. </li></ul>

This position screens, interviews, and uses their discretion to determine the hiring eligibility of student drivers per USX hiring guidelines and DOT Rules and Regulations.Position Functions:<ul><li>Own the student driver recruitment process to fill existing openings (including sourcing, interviewing/screening, and closing candidates) while maintaining current knowledge of transportation rules and regulations as well as the USX hiring guidelines.</li><li>Interview, gather, and analyze data to determine if applicants meet USX hiring guidelines. Review MVR, DAC, and criminal background of potential applicants.</li><li>Use discretion to extend an offer to potential student applicants who meet qualifications while focusing on providing a great candidate experience.</li><li>Provide student driver applicants with USX OTR and Dedicated job openings on a daily basis.</li><li>Maintain knowledge of compensation offerings, student training program, benefits, and salary structures for potential candidates.</li><li>Effectively partner with leadership to manage expectations of drivers, solve recruiting issues, and act as an advisor throughout the recruiting process.</li><li>Utilize de-escalation skills when handling sensitive decisions to disqualify a driver from potential employment.</li><li>Enter driver information accurately in TenStreet, confirming it flows to Pegasus.</li><li>Promote USX company-wide programs in recruiting, marketing, employee referrals, and job postings.</li><li>Effectively communicate U.S. Xpress' mission and culture to help candidates understand impact and value.</li><li>Collaborate in-person with all levels of the organization to harness collective intelligence of the workforce.</li><li>Attend all in-person meetings and trainings on recent developments, goals, and objectives. Participate in such discussions by offering input and advice.</li><li>Regularly engage remotely and in-person with customers and potential customers to establish rapport, open communication, and expectations.</li></ul>
