The Substance Abuse Specialist works collaboratively with a multi-disciplinary care team to identify, assess, and provide stage-wise engagement, persuasion, active treatment, harm reduction, relapse prevention, and recovery support for individuals with serious mental illness (SMI) and co-occurring substance use disorders. Coordinates care with detoxification programs, residential treatment facilities, outpatient substance use providers, Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) providers, hospitals, criminal justice systems, and community recovery supports.
