This program allows students to alternate between semesters of full-time work with Royal Switchgear and semesters of academic study, gaining valuable industry experience while staying on track for graduation.<ul><li>Next rotation begins: Summer 2026 (Date TBD)</li><li>Students typically complete 2-3 alternating rotations (e.g., Summer 2026, Fall 2026, Winter 2026).</li><li>With multiple students in rotation, Royal Switchgear maintains year-round coverage, giving students exposure to different projects and stages of our operations.</li></ul>ResponsibilitiesAs a Co-op, you may work in design, manufacturing, and quality engineering. Typical responsibilities include:<ul><li>Assist with the design, testing, and documentation of custom switchgear components</li><li>Support production and manufacturing engineering teams with process improvements</li><li>Conduct time studies and analyze workflow efficiency</li><li>Collaborate with maintenance and quality teams to troubleshoot and improve equipment</li><li>Gather and analyze production data to identify cost savings or efficiency gains</li><li>Participate in root cause analysis and help implement corrective actions</li><li>Create or update CAD drawings and engineering documentation</li><li>Support safety, quality, and continuous improvement initiatives</li><li>Attend and participate in team meetings, project briefings, and cross-functional workshops</li></ul>Requirements<ul><li>Pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, Electrical, or related)</li><li>Minimum 2.5 GPA</li><li>Sophomore standing or higher by credit hours</li><li>Strong communication, teamwork, and CAD/technical skills</li><li>Availability to work full-time (40 hrs/week) during assigned co-op semesters</li><li>Ability to commit to multiple alternating semesters of work/school</li><li>Reliable transportation to Bessemer, AL (limited public transit options)</li></ul>Benefits<ul><li>$25/hour starting pay (overtime eligible at 1.5x pay)</li><li>Housing stipend for students living >50 miles away</li><li>Textbook reimbursement (if applicable)</li><li>Assigned mentor within engineering team</li><li>Mid-term and final performance feedback</li><li>Consideration for full-time employment after graduation</li><li>Culture & Engagement: Co-ops are part of our team! Responsibilities: • Supervise camper activities to ensure a fun, safe environment • Execute weekly camp games, activities, on-campus field trips, crafts, etc. • Correctly respond to any injury or emergency situations • Provide encouragement to all participants in program • Monitor camper drop-off and pick-up each day • Fully participate in all camp games and activities, including swimming during pool time and belaying during climbing at the rock wall • Handle camper disputes and other behavioral issues; accordingly, discipline as necessary • Effectively communicate with parents and guardians throughout the camp day • Promote a safe, learning environment for campers • Be available for both morning, afternoon shifts, and periodically throughout the Fall and Spring semester.• Attend staff meetings as scheduled • Work within a non-smoking, physically active environment • Other duties as required
