18+ years old and high school diploma or equivalent required by June 30, 2025; Ability to facilitate high quality recreation programming with large groups of adolescents in an outdoor environment while ensuring student safety; Ability to independently follow practice plans/lesson plans; Exhibits high energy, warmth, enthusiasm and patience in working with adolescents; Demonstrated success as a recreation specialist strongly preferred; Demonstrated success as a middle school athletics coach strongly preferred; Experience as an athlete preferred; Experience working in a summer camp, youth development, recreation or athletics setting; Ability to uphold, promote, and model positive youth development principles; Experience with behavior management, including positive youth development, preferred; Ability to quickly problem-solve in the moment; Ability to work collaboratively within a team setting; Excellent oral and written communication skills, organization skills and attention to detail; Skilled problem-solver and self-starter; Bilingual (English/Spanish), a plus; A strong belief in the mission and values of DREAM, including the desire to make a difference in the lives of our students, families, and community. Originally founded in 1991 as Harlem RBI, DREAM has grown to annually serve more than 2,500 youth across East Harlem and the South Bronx through a network of seven PreK-12, extended-day, extended-year DREAM Charter Schools and community sports-based youth development programs.
