QUALIFICATIONS: <ul><li>At least 16 years of age.</li><li>Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting is preferred but not required.</li><li>Computer literate in hardware and software applications (word processing, database management and spreadsheets). </li><li>CPR/First Aid/AED, Blood borne Pathogens certification, Mandatory Reporter/Child Abuse Prevention certifications, and other required trainings within 30/60/90 days of hire date. </li><li>Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities. </li><li>Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communications skills and professional demeanor</li><li>Proven customer service skills (in person as well as on the phone)</li><li>Criminal record clearance by being fingerprinted prior to reporting to work and signing a statement regarding criminal convictions</li><li>Requires resourcefulness, excellent organizational skills and ability to work independently</li></ul>ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: <ol><li>Assist with implementation of program activities within the established guidelines.</li><li>Assist with daily lesson/activity plans to meet the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive needs of the children in your care.</li><li>Responsible for management and organization.</li><li>Have the knowledge in age appropriate discipline techniques and philosophy.</li><li>Have a general understanding of children and their behavior and development.</li><li>Supervises the children in all activities</li><li>Maintain a professional attitude at all times.</li><li>Assists in making ongoing, systematic observations and evaluations of each child.</li><li> Maintains communication with parents and engages parents.</li><li> Develop and maintain positive relationships with the children and families.</li><li> Maintains the program site and equipment.</li><li> Maintains required program records.</li><li> Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.</li><li> Must have the knowledge of emergency procedures to ensure safety of children and be physically and mentally able to respond to emergencies and administer CPR and/or First aid appropriately.</li><li> Support the mission of the YMCA and incorporate the YMCA character development   values including Care, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility in our daily routine while working with children, parents, and staff.</li><li> Perform all other duties assigned by the Summer Academy Site Coordinator or Project Director.</li></ol>SCHEDULE REQUIRED:  30-40 hours per week for the duration of the program. Program runs June - August, specific dates TBD. There will also be mandatory training held end of May or early June.  Wage Rate: $13/hr
