As a Driver, Helper Non Formula, you will assist the Driver in every aspect of the product delivery to our customers. The Driver Helper rides with and assist Drivers in the tractor trailer, tandem trailer and/or straight truck on intrastate and interstate routes for the purpose of delivering and/or unloading various products in a safe and timely manner and in accordance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations. Communicates and interacts with customers, vendors and co-workers professionally ensuring questions are answered accurately and in a timely manner. Functions as a team member within the department and organization, as required, and perform any duty assigned to best serve the company. Employees usually work Monday through Thursday, typically between 40 - 50 hours per week. Work duties may extend into the fall or winter depending upon availability of seasonal employees and the needs of the department.Summer 2026 - Anticipated season begins mid May and runs through the summer.The Highway Department hires a limited number of seasonal employees for the summer months. The positions remain open until filled.Examples of Work Performed:The following duties are typical of this position. These are not to be construed as exclusive or all-inclusive. Other duties may be required or assigned.<ul><li>May perform a variety of manual work flagging traffic, setting work zone signs, etc.</li><li>May operate mowers of various sizes.</li><li>May perform routine computer data entry.</li><li>Maintains daily work logs.</li><li>May sweep shop floors and perform other custodial duties.</li><li>May perform landscaping tasks including raking, shoveling, erosion control installation and maintenance, etc.</li><li>May clean equipment using cleaning agents and other chemicals.</li><li>May assist full-time employees in road and shoulder repair and maintenance work.</li><li>Performs other related work as required.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Must be 18 years of age or older.</li><li>Possession of a driver's license and a driving record that meets County standards.</li><li>Experience driving vehicles with manual transmissions desirable.</li><li>Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.</li><li>Ability to perform varied maintenance tasks.</li><li>Employee once hired will be state certified in flagger training and work zone setup.</li></ul>Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:<ul><li>Skill in the use of motorized equipment. (Training will be provided.)</li><li>Skill in operating vehicles and equipment effectively, safely, and efficiently.
