This individual will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to ensure the highest quality of care for patients undergoing oral surgical procedures. The Oral Surgeon will also actively participate in education and research initiatives within the hospital.Responsibilities will be to perform a wide range of oral surgical procedures on pediatric patients, including but not limited to:<ul><li>Extractions</li><li>Corrective jaw surgery</li><li>Implant placement</li><li>Oral pathology treatment</li><li>Collaborate with pediatric dentists, orthodontists, otolaryngologists, plastic surgeons, and other specialists to develop comprehensive treatment plans for patients.</li><li>Provide pre-operative and post-operative care, including patient evaluation, consultation, and follow-up appointments. Participate in hospital rounds, conferences, and meetings to discuss patient cases and treatment strategies with colleagues.</li><li>Actively contribute to the education and training of dental residents, medical students, and other healthcare professionals through lectures, clinical demonstrations, and mentorship.</li><li>Engage in scholarly activities, including research projects, publications, and presentations at national conferences, to advance the field of pediatric oral surgery.</li><li>Adhere to hospital policies and procedures, as well as professional standards and guidelines, to ensure patient safety and quality of care.</li><li>Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient encounters, treatment plans, and clinical outcomes in electronic medical records.</li></ul>Qualifications:<ul><li>Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS) or Doctor of Dental Medicine (DMD) degree from an accredited dental school.</li><li>Certificate of completion from an accredited oral and maxillofacial surgery residency program.</li><li>Board certification by the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery (ABOMS).</li><li>Valid state dental license and ability to obtain medical licensure in Ohio.</li><li>Excellent clinical skills and knowledge of current oral surgical techniques, technologies, and best practices in pediatric care.</li><li>Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team and communicate complex medical information to patients and their families.</li></ul>Experience:<ul><li>Minimum of three years of post-residency experience in pediatric oral and maxillofacial surgery preferred.</li><li>Demonstrated expertise in managing complex pediatric oral surgical cases, including trauma, congenital anomalies, and dental infections.</li><li>Proven track record of academic and professional achievement, including publications, presentations, and active involvement in professional organizations.</li></ul>What you can expect:<ul><li>Competitive, guaranteed base salary</li><li>Collaboration with a supportive, integrated team</li><li>Comprehensive benefits package</li><li>Opportunities for personal and professional growth</li><li>Generous vacation and CME time</li><li>Impressive recruitment incentives</li><li>A well-balanced work / life culture</li></ul>Akron Childrens is a 501(c)(3) site that qualifies for Public Service Loan Forgiveness through the federal government.Inspire and make a difference:Named as one of Forbes Best-In-State Employers in 2025, Akron Childrens is Northeast Ohios largest and only independent pediatric health care provider with two hospital campuses, six regional health centers and 50+ care locations.
