The Department of Surgery features a vibrant teaching environment, including a well-established general surgery residency program that graduates 7 chief residents a year, an accredited complex general oncology fellowship since 2020, and medical students, all of whom rotate through the division of surgical oncology, which has historically been recognized as an exceptionally valuable educational opportunity through multiple teaching awards from learners at all levels. The Division of Surgical Oncology is the states primary referral center for the full breadth of surgical oncology, including melanoma, sarcoma, HIPEC, breast cancer, gastrointestinal, and hepatopancreaticobiliary tumors at an NCI designated Comprehensive Cancer Center, supporting a CGSO fellowship.
Responsibilities: • Resident education and training • Appointment in the Department of Surgery Division of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery • Trauma call at UNMH, a Level I trauma center • Assist in the development of the clinical, educational, and research aspects of the program • Play a pivotal role in building an oral and maxillofacial residency program at the University of New Mexico • Participation in cleft lip and palate and Craniofacial anomalies team. The Department of Surgery Division of Otolaryngology - Head and Neck Surgery University of New Mexico School of Medicine in Albuquerque is looking for a full-time Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon (OMFS) to provide and oversee surgical services, including but not limited to: • Oral head and neck pathology • Maxillofacial trauma and reconstruction • Nasoalveolar cleft and dentofacial deformities • TMJ pathology and reconstruction • Dentoalveolar and implant surgery.
