<h1 style="margin-top:16px">Full-time, Tenure track<br/>Application Deadline: Open Until Filled<br/>Priority Screening: March 2, 2026</h1><h3 style="margin-top:3px"></h3><h2 style="margin-top:3px"></h2><br/><h2 style="margin-top:3px">Position Summary:</h2>Ulster County Community College, a two-year branch of the State University of New York located in the Catskill Mountains ninety miles north of New York City, anticipates an opening for an Assistant Professor Tenure Track Faculty Member in the Business & Professional Studies Department to begin Fall 2026.<br/><br/>Under the general supervision of the Department Chair, the Assistant Professor will provide instruction in accordance with course descriptions, outlines, class schedules, and Governing Board policy; evaluate progress of students concerning educational matters, and perform other instructional related duties as assigned. SUNY Ulster offers the following accounting courses as part of various business degrees and certificates: Financial Accounting, Managerial Accounting, Principles of Accounting I&II, Income Tax Procedures, Payroll Accounting, Fund Accounting, QuickBooks and Special Topics. The successful candidate will be able to teach a majority of these courses. This position may include a combination of day, evening, weekend, extension site, online, and/or hybrid assignments.<br/> <h2 style="margin-top:3px"></h2><h2 style="margin-top:3px">Duties and Responsibilities:</h2><ul style="margin-bottom:11px"><li>Meet each scheduled class in the modality established and teach or conduct learning exercises for the entire period.</li><li>Provide each student at the beginning of the course with a written plan about the course, to include a full description of the grading system and how the student will be evaluated.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;margin-left:8px">Use and develop a variety of effective teaching and assessment methods to engage student interest and address a variety of learning styles.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;margin-left:8px">Develop curriculum to integrate multicultural perspectives.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;margin-left:8px">Integrate appropriate instructional technology into the classroom to enhance student learning.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;margin-left:8px">Maintain accurate records according to published deadlines (i.e., grades, syllabi, attendance reporting).</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;margin-left:8px">Undertake advisor training in order to advise and instruct students regarding programs of study, other institutions of higher education, lifelong learning resources, and effective study skills; refer students to support services, programs, resources, and other professionals as appropriate.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;margin-left:8px">Evaluate student work using clear criteria relevant to the course content and learning outcomes.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;margin-left:8px">Carry out collegial responsibilities including, but not limited to:  assessment, attending and engaging in department meetings, serving on institutional committees, and participating in shared governance committees and campus life activities.</li><li style="margin-bottom:11px;margin-left:8px">Perform duties described in Board policy, the faculty collective bargaining contract, and as assigned at the Stone Ridge, Kingston, and/or other designated locations.</li></ul><br/><h2 style="margin-top:3px"></h2><h2 style="margin-top:3px">Minimum Qualifications:</h2><ul style="margin-top:19px"><li style="margin-top:19px;margin-left:8px">Master's degree in Accounting, OR</li><li style="margin-left:8px">Bachelor's degree in Accounting plus Master’s degree in business or closely related field.</li><li style="border:none;margin-left:8px">An ability/willingness to teach introductory and upper-level courses in accounting/ business.</li><li style="border:none;margin-left:8px">A demonstrated commitment to applied learning and innovative teaching.</li><li style="border:none;margin-left:8px">A strong interest in teaching, mentoring, and working with undergraduate students.</li><li style="border:none;margin-left:8px">Effective interpersonal, communication, and technology skills.</li></ul><br/><br/> <h2 style="margin-top:3px">And</h2><ul><li style="margin-left:8px">Commitment to community college goals and objectives of providing quality programs and services for culturally, socio-economically, ethnically, and academically diverse students and students with disabilities; personal qualities to work effectively and with sensitivity in a multicultural environment; awareness of and commitment to the needs of non-traditional and/or re-entry students with diverse abilities and interests.</li></ul> <h2 style="margin-top:3px"></h2> <h2 style="margin-top:3px">Preferred Qualifications:</h2><ul><li style="border:none;margin-bottom:11px;margin-left:8px">Prior teaching experience and Brightspace training preferred</li><li style="margin-left:8px">Certified Public Accountant</li></ul><br/><h2 style="margin-top:3px">Salary:</h2>An initial starting annual salary of $56,000 – 69,500 will be commensurate with education, training, and experience per academic year with an excellent benefits package.
