The Weekend Café Assistant works closely with the Café Manager and volunteers to support café operations during church services and events.

<h1>Temporary Weekend Café Assistant</h1><p><strong>BBSI on behalf of our client</strong> is seeking a Temporary Weekend Café Assistant to support a faith-based church café ministry focused on creating community and connection. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys hospitality, food service, and serving others in a welcoming church environment.</p><p>Applicants must be comfortable working within a Christian ministry setting and willing to align with the organization’s Statement of Faith and Core Beliefs.</p><h2>Position Details</h2><ul><li><strong>Position Type:</strong> Temporary, Part-Time, Non-Exempt	</li><li><strong>Pay Rate:</strong> $16.40/hour	</li><li><strong>Schedule:</strong> 10–15 hours per week, primarily weekends and special events	</li><li><strong>Assignment Duration:</strong> May–August 2026</li></ul><h2>Position Summary</h2><p>The Weekend Café Assistant works closely with the Café Manager and volunteers to support café operations during church services and events. The café serves as a ministry designed to help people connect and build community within the church family.</p><h2>Qualifications</h2><ul><li>High school diploma preferred	</li><li>Previous food service experience preferred	</li><li>Current Oregon Food Handler’s Card required</li></ul><h2>Required Skills & Abilities</h2><ul><li>Ability to follow written and verbal instructions	</li><li>Strong communication and customer service skills	</li><li>Ability to work cooperatively with volunteers and staff	</li><li>Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment	</li><li>Good time management and ability to work independently	</li><li>Basic knowledge of commercial kitchen equipment and food preparation	</li><li>Understanding of sanitation standards and health codes	</li><li>Ability to safely use cleaning supplies and equipment	</li><li>Basic computer skills for email and time entry	</li><li>Good judgment and professionalism during services and events</li></ul><h2>Physical Requirements</h2><ul><li>Prolonged standing, walking, bending, twisting, kneeling, and reaching	</li><li>Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.	</li><li>Ability to work in an active kitchen environment</li></ul><h2>Essential Duties</h2><ul><li>Assist with meal and food preparation	</li><li>Help guide and support café volunteers	</li><li>Maintain safe food handling and sanitation practices	</li><li>Clean and organize kitchen, preparation areas, utensils, and equipment	</li><li>Assist with café cleanup after services and events	</li><li>Monitor inventory and communicate supply needs to Café Manager	</li><li>Ensure food presentation meets established standards	</li><li>Serve as backup support for Café Manager when needed	</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned</li></ul><p>This is a temporary opportunity within a faith-based organization dedicated to serving its community through hospitality and ministry.</p><p>INDSO</p>
