Responsibilities of the Transportation & Safety Operations Engineer include: • Manage transportation safety & operations research programs, serving as Program Manager & primary client point of contact • Provide technical leadership on transportation safety, operations, TSMO strategies, ITS deployments, & data-driven research methodologies • Develop & oversee project plans, schedules, budgets, & deliverables, ensuring compliance & high-quality outputs across multidisciplinary teams • Lead safety assessment & infrastructure reviews, identifying countermeasures & improvements while guiding road safety audits & operational evaluations • Support business development including proposal development, bid strategy, technical writing, & expansion of client relationships. Qualifications of the Transportation & Safety Operations Engineer include: • Masters Degree or higher in Transportation, Civil, Systems Engineering or a related field • 12+ years of experience managing federal, state, or local transportation research, safety programs, or ITS/TSMO initiatives • Proven expertise working with state/federal transportation research and project/program management • Active Public Trust clearance.
