Mortgage Loan Underwriter DuPont Community Credit Union (DCCU) is currently seeking qualified candidates for a Mortgage Underwriter role to join a team of dedicated Mortgage Operations professionals. Please note this is an on-site position located in Waynesboro, VA and currently does not offer the opportunity for remote work. What You’ll have the Opportunity to do:<ul><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Underwrite portfolio and conventional loans in accordance with DCCU and investor requirements.</li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Communicate underwriting decision to Mortgage Advisor </li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Communicate with investor and MI company contacts for underwriting questions</li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Review appraisal and complete review checklists to ensure subject property conforms to investor standards </li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Counteroffer within DCCU and investor guidelines, using all tools available, when applicable</li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Analyze self-employed income according to investor methods and standards</li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Issue clear to close, ensuring closed loans meet all investor eligibility criteria prior to closing.</li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Assist Mortgage Operations leader with training Processors and new Underwriters</li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Assist with the maintenance of underwriting guidelines and manuals to ensure that changes and updates are effectively communicated to mortgage lending staff</li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Responsible for Pre-funding and Post-closing QC</li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Responsible for the partial release process for first mortgages and HELOCs </li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Responsible for managing the release of liability process</li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Provide courteous and prompt support to DCCU internal and external members</li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Required to attend or participate in necessary compliance training, including but not limited to Bank Secrecy Act, OFAC, and Privacy </li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Perform other duties as assigned by Mortgage Operations leader</li></ul> What You Bring to the Table:<ul><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">A High School Diploma or equivalent, bachelor’s degree preferred</li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">2-3 years of secondary market underwriting experience, preferred</li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Ability to understand and apply Real Estate regulations appropriately (MDIA, RESPA, TILA, Reg B, et. al.) </li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Must be eligible to register with the Nationwide Mortgage Licensing System and Registry (NMLS) and must maintain registration</li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Strong organizational skills</li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Computer literacy/skills, w. experience in Word & Excel</li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Critical thinking skills</li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">Strong mathematical and analytical skills</li><li class="MsoBodyText3" style="border:none;margin-left:8px;text-align:left;padding:0in">High level of professionalism</li><li class="MsoBodyText3"
