We are centered on caring for the whole person – with expert medical care, pain management as well as emotional and spiritual support along with resources, information, and emotional support for families and caregivers.<h3>About the role:</h3>The volunteer provides patient care and support services according to his/her experience and training and in compliance with organization policies. <h3>Job Responsibilities: </h3><ol><li>Serves as an integral member of the interdisciplinary group amid various settings: home care; respite; inpatient, bereavement, and/or administrative; office duties.</li><li>Participates in general orientation.</li><li>Serves the patient and family/caregiver under the guidance of the Volunteer Coordinator and Case Manager or as a part of the administrative team.</li><li>Serves as substitute family/caregiver in the home performing activities that the volunteer has been prepared for and has agreed to perform.  The volunteer may do homemaker chores, run errands, and provide respite care as well.</li><li>Documents as educated and instructed maintaining confidentiality.</li><li>Meets all health requirements set by Luminary Hospice.</li><li>Provides availability regularly and/or keeping with the patient and family/caregiver needs.</li><li>Participates in volunteer support groups and/or educational in-services.</li><li>Maintains open communication and reports regularly to the Volunteer Coordinator.</li><li>Assignment of other duties (as needed) directed by the Volunteer Coordinator.</li><li>Participates in quality assessment performance improvement teams and activities.</li><li>Participates in interdisciplinary group meetings, as appropriate.  </li></ol><h3>Job Qualifications: </h3><ol><li>Mature individual, supportive of the hospice concept, comfortable with his/her spirituality, and willing to serve others in a volunteer capacity.</li><li>Surviving family members: must meet ayear's waiting period after the patient's death to participate in direct patient care or public relations activities.</li><li>Successful completion of the hospice's volunteer training and orientation program.</li><li>Previous volunteer experience may be helpful.</li><li>Ability to work within an interdisciplinary group.</li><li>If making home visits, must be a licensed driver with an automobile that is insured in accordance with state or organization requirements and is in good working order. </li></ol><h3>Physical Demands:</h3>The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. The Member and Volunteer Coordinator plays a key role in organizing CHIP Indy and Continuum of Care events, meetings, trainings, and committees, creating spaces where collaboration can thrive. A special focus of this position is supporting, and compensating people with lived experience, ensuring their voices meaningfully shape our work. The coordinator also helps keep our community informed and connected by managing the annual update, printing, and distribution of the Handbook of Help, an essential resource for the community.Essential Position Duties & ResponsibilitiesThe following statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed. They are not intended to be construed as an exhaustive list of all responsibilities, duties, and skills required under this role.Membership and Volunteer Coordination and Stewardship<ul><li>Coordinate logistics for CHIP’s annual Homeless Persons’ Memorial, including volunteer recruitment and communication.</li><li>Work closely with CHIP staff planning the annual Point-in-Time Count (PIT), and actively coordinate volunteer trainings, signups, logistics, and communications.</li><li>Actively maintain and update membership, distribution lists and listservs for the Continuum of Care.</li><li>Assist in the development and distribution of Continuum of Care Magazines or e-newsletters.</li><li>Administer and report on results from membership and volunteer surveys.</li></ul>Coordinate the engagement of people with lived experience of homelessness in Community and Continuum of Care Spaces<ul><li>With the Continuum of Care Strategy & Engagement Manager, implement a plan to effectively recruit, engage and compensate persons with lived experience spaces such as the Youth Advisory Board, Blueprint Council Governing Board, and its committees, and other key committees/groups, in a way that specifically meets their individual needs.</li><li>With the Continuum of Care Strategy & Engagement Manager, cultivate meaningful experiences for PLE to contribute their thoughts/insights/experiences to strengthen and improve the homeless response system. </li><li>Send reminders, materials, and provide tech support to people with lived experience engaged in the Continuum of Care.</li><li>Manage compensation process for people with lived experience.</li></ul>Logistical support for CHIP Indy & Community Spaces<ul><li>Support CHIP Indy and Continuum of Care community meetings by booking rooms, drafting emails and instructions for participants, ordering food, taking notes on behalf of CHIP, drafting follow-up emails, and providing set up and clean up help.</li><li>This may include virtual and in-person meetings of the Blueprint Council and their subcommittees, Continuum of Care convenings and trainings, CHIP Indy partner meetings, and attending and taking notes meetings hosted by other organizations.</li><li>Utilize board management software (Boardable) to ensure meetings of the Blueprint Council and its subcommittees are documented timely and accurately.</li></ul>Resource Coordination and Support<ul><li>Manage the annual process of updating and distributing the Handbook of Help, which includes working with volunteers to update the information in the book, managing the project timelines and printing logistics, and coordinating the distribution/pick up of books by partner organizations.</li><li>Assist with the review of requests and distribution of checks for Street Reach Indy.</li><li>Ensure compliant record keeping and file audits for theContinuum of Care membership.</li></ul>Administrative Support as requested<ul><li>Provide administrative support to CHIP staff on specific special initiatives as requested (e.g. scheduling key meetings, taking notes at meetings, etc..).</li><li>Assist in the preparation and review of key reports, presentations, grant applications, and other documents as requested.</li></ul>Critical and Demonstrable Skills<ul><li>A demonstrated passion for the organization’s mission.</li><li>Excellent judgement and discretion in working with boards / partner agencies.</li><li>Excellent organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.</li><li>High level of attention to detail and accuracy in work products.</li><li>Effecting planning skills, with the ability to successfully manage a project from start to finish within established timeframes and goals.</li><li>Tech savvy and proficient with Microsoft 365, willing to learn new systems as needed.</li></ul>Education and/or Experience<ul><li>Associate’s degree or higher preferred in related field.</li><li>At least 1 year of full-time experience providing high-level administrative, volunteer management, and/or events support. </li><li>CHIP will accept an equivalent combination of education, experience, and proven communication and project management skills.</li><li>Individuals with lived experience of homelessness or housing instability are encouraged to apply.</li></ul>Work Culture and EnvironmentCHIP has a creative, dynamic team and is dedicated to attracting and fostering talented and diverse individuals who reflect the communities being served and the communities most impacted by homelessness. CHIP has adopted a flexible, hybrid work environment that includes remote, community-based, and in-office schedules. CHIP staff are required to be in the office and/or in the community a minimum of two days a week. What You Will Do: <ul><li>Make one unit visit to each county per quarter during the calendar year. Remember you are their first contact. Must be able to do problem solving or trouble shooting. Must be available to answer questions. </li><li>Answer phone calls and return emails generally within 24 hours. </li><li>Check units spend downs monthly to ensure the units are not exceeding their budget, they are utilizing their funds appropriately in the various categories and making sure the units are filling out their check intakes correctly. </li><li>Recruit, engage, train, and manage sufficient volunteers in each county of your region to ensure effective delivery of services while maintaining the standards of The Salvation Army and funders </li><li>Cultivate volunteers for distribution of programs such as: Emergency Assistance Programs (EAP), Camp and specific county programs </li><li>Monitor and deliver all kettle equipment to the units and ensure it is safe and in good working order. </li><li>Collect kettle equipment inventory and supplies inventory each year </li><li>Learn the Register to Ring program and input needed information from the field during the Annual Red Kettle Campaign </li><li>Put together an EDS volunteer team in each county to handle local disasters </li><li>Keep the Service Extension Director updated on any unit problems or issues </li><li>Keep the AA updated on all new council members, volunteers, and banking addition/corrections. </li><li>Attend monthly Service Extension meetings in Indianapolis </li><li>Give formal presentations utilizing the Service Extension visual aids, for e.g., manuals, brochures, PowerPoint presentations, stats etc. Along with creating these items for each unit. </li><li>Continually reassess community needs, making service recommendations to the DSED </li><li>Provide oversight of locations with SA property </li><li>Interact with other agencies and organizations developing a good partnering repertoire. </li><li>Participate in major county events which could include a few weekends a year. Parades, festivals, booths, fundraisers etc. </li><li>Other tasks as assigned by leadership </li><li> </li></ul>Minimum Qualifications: The requirements listed below are representative of the minimal education, experience, skills, and/or abilities required for this position.Education: High School Diploma or equivalent preferred Background Checks: Position requires a background check to be completed, and all background check results will be reviewed.
