Responsibilities:
<ul><li>Join as an Administrative / Organizational Volunteer!<ul><li>Support our care team behind the scenes by helping in our offices (light data entry, assembling packets, sending cards to family members), organizing special memories for patients, sewing memory bears or blankets, and more. Your support can make a big impact!</li></ul></li><li>Become a Patient Care Volunteer!<ul><li> Visit patients to offer companionship and give caregivers a break. Activities include reading, hobbies, playing games, and listening. Make a difference in someone's day!</li></ul></li><li>Bring happiness as a Pet Therapy Volunteer! <ul><li>Share the love of your Certified Therapy Pet with patients.  No hospice experience is needed, just a certified and vaccinated pet. Your visits can bring immense joy and emotional support.</li></ul></li><li>Share Your Talent as a Musician Volunteer! <ul><li>Use your musical gifts to brighten patients' days and provide comfort to our healthcare staff. Your music can be a source of peace and joy.</li></ul></li><li>Serve as a Veteran Volunteer! <ul><li>Connect with fellow veterans, provide companionship, and participate in meaningful ceremonies. Your unique insights can help support and honor our veteran patients.</li></ul></li></ul>

You will respond to fires in your District and participate in monthly, ongoing training. VOLUNTEER Firefighter

This position will render Basic and Advanced Life support and emergency medical techniques to those in need of assistance; to operate and maintain assigned ambulance and station; to participate in continuing education and training relative to medical and industry advancements. Assist and coordinate with Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department (FVFD) and other emergency service agencies in rescue operations, motor vehicle accidents and other emergency situations.

The City of Friendswood is currently accepting applications for volunteer EMTs, AEMTs, and Paramedics (all levels). This position will render Basic and Advanced Life support and emergency medical techniques to those in need of assistance; to operate and maintain assigned ambulance and station; to participate in continuing education and training relative to medical and industry advancements.<h2></h2>Work Performed:<ul><li style="line-height:normal">Render pre-hospital emergency care according to established medical protocols.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Perform triage and a variety of emergency medical treatments at the Basic and Advanced Life support level. Provide continuing care and treatment while enroute to an emergency medical facility; monitor and report changes in patient condition.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Under medical direction and following prescribed standing orders perform a variety of invasive and non-invasive therapies including but not limited to assessment and evaluation of the ill and injured, cardiopulmonary resuscitation and defibrillation, administration of drugs, agents and solutions, intubation and pulmonary ventilation, drawing of blood samples for analysis, application of dressing and bandages, control of shock, and immobilization of fractures, and all other skills contained within the Department of Transportation manual of knowledge objectives for Paramedics.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Drive the ambulance to emergency scenes, transport accident victims and medical patients to hospitals.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Assist and coordinate with Friendswood Volunteer Fire Department (FVFD) and other emergency service agencies in rescue operations, motor vehicle accidents and other emergency situations.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Perform a variety of emergency medical treatment services at the basic and advanced life support levels.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Employ safe lifting and moving techniques. Maintain ambulance vehicle, equipment and station.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Lead and participate in training classes for the public on cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), standard first aid and emergency medical techniques. Participate in public health education and screening.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Act as a preceptor for EMS students.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Handle radio communications during emergency and non-emergency situations professionally.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Keep records and logs on daily activities.</li><li style="line-height:normal">Perform related duties as assigned.</li></ul> REQUIREMENTS:<ul><li style="vertical-align:top">Possession of a Texas Department of State Health Services (TDSHS) Emergency Medical Technician (EMT) certification</li><li style="vertical-align:top">ITLS - Trauma Life Support certificate (ITLS)</li><li style="vertical-align:top">AHA Advanced Cardiac Life Support Certificate (ACLS)</li><li style="vertical-align:top">AHA Pediatric Life Support Certification (PALS)</li><li style="vertical-align:top">A valid Texas Drivers License </li><li style="vertical-align:top">American Heart Association BLS for Healthcare Providers Certification </li><li style="vertical-align:top">High School Diploma or GED supplemented by specialized college level.</li><li style="vertical-align:top">A minimum of One (1) year or experience as paramedic in a 911 system</li><li style="vertical-align:top">Possess or acquire within Six (6) months: NIMS 100, 200, 700 and 800</li><li style="vertical-align:top">Each individual must qualify and be recertified prior to the end of the TDSHS certification period to remain employed. </li></ul> CONTINUING EDUCATION:<ul><li style="vertical-align:top">Must maintain yearly CE hours within current TDSHS guidelines.</li><li style="vertical-align:top">Must exercise professional initiative to stay current with new drugs and treatment procedure guidelines. </li><li style="vertical-align:top">Must maintain the ability to carry out standing orders within the Medical Director's discretion.</li></ul> This job will require 24-hour availability during emergency events.
