Required clinical skills include MS/Tele, telemetry, cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown, interpretation of dysrhythmias, management of dysrhythmias, on-unit telemetry monitoring, use of rapid response/code teams, feeding tube care and management, blood product administration, central line care/management, peripheral line care/management, PICC line management, starting and maintaining IVs, heparin protocols, management of cardiac drips without titration, PCA, CVA, total joint replacements, surgical drains, Emerson/PleurEvac chest tubes, high-flow nasal cannula (HFNC), nasal cannula, oxygen administration, tracheostomy care/management, isolation precautions, and wound care/wound vac. The unit serves a general intermediate population, including sepsis/infection, wounds, CHF, cardiac arrhythmias, AMI, CVA/TIA, altered mental status, ETOH withdrawal, SI, general postoperative, orthopedic, urology procedure, and GI bleed cases.
