In this role, the Project Engineer will bridge the gap between field crews, management, and government agencies to ensure complex projects are completed safely, on schedule, and within budget.Key Responsibilities<ul><li>Assist in the planning, coordination, and execution of construction activities to support project schedules and budgets</li><li>Design, review, and implement temporary works and construction means and methods with a strong emphasis on safety</li><li>Inspect installed work, equipment, and materials; identify issues and coordinate corrective actions as needed</li><li>Provide on-site direction and technical support to foremen, crews, and subcontractors</li><li>Monitor project progress and prepare accurate daily reports, quantities, and documentation</li><li>Perform quality control inspections to ensure work complies with contract documents, plans, and specifications</li><li>Verify materials and workmanship meet project requirements and approved submittals</li><li>Enforce safety policies, OSHA regulations, and proper use of PPE on the job site</li><li>Support project cost tracking, schedule updates, and coordination with project stakeholders</li><li>Assist with communication between the field, project management, owners, and inspectors</li></ul>Qualifications<ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related engineering discipline</li><li>Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Project Engineer, Field Engineer, or similar role in heavy civil or highway construction</li><li>Strong understanding of construction methods, equipment, and materials used in civil infrastructure projects</li><li>Working knowledge of OSHA regulations and job-site safety practices</li><li>High attention to detail with strong organizational skills</li><li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills</li><li>Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities</li><li>Ability to work extended hours, including early mornings, nights, weekends, and occasional holidays, as required to meet project schedules</li></ul>Working Conditions<ul><li>This project is located in Albuquerque, NM. Subsequent projects will be nationally based.</li><li>Work is primarily performed on active construction job sites, including highways, roadways, and heavy civil infrastructure projects.</li><li>Regular exposure to outdoor weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, wind, and dust.</li><li>Position requires walking, standing, climbing, bending, and lifting in a construction environment.</li><li>Frequent interaction with heavy equipment, moving machinery, traffic, and construction hazards; strict adherence to safety protocols is required.</li><li>Travel between job sites may be required depending on project location.</li><li>Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory at all job sites.</li></ul>Ames Construction is an equal opportunity employer.
