Position Overview: We are seeking a highly skilled CNC Machinist I with a strong focus on safety and operational competencies. The ideal candidate will be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient operation of CNC mills and lathes, performing setup, maintenance, and inspection tasks, and adhering to all safety protocols. Weekend Shift: F-M: 4:30am-2:30pm, 15% shift premium (T-Th Off) Key Responsibilities: Safety Competencies: <ul><li>Ensure glove and hand safety.</li><li>Follow bench grinder and surface grinder safety protocols.</li><li>Use face shields appropriately.</li><li>Inspect cranes and hoists and maintain logs.</li><li>Properly rig and use cranes.</li><li>Safely operate CNC mills and lathes, adhering to manufacturer and company safety protocols.</li><li>Practice proper lifting techniques and recognize trip hazards.</li><li>Complete safety skills and SED on time.</li><li>Participate in monthly safety meetings.</li><li>Follow all life-critical policies and JM Health and Safety policies.</li><li>Use appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) as required.</li><li>Operate only the equipment for which you have been trained by a qualified person.</li><li>Never tamper with machine safety guards or switches.</li><li>Ensure setups can safely hold parts against cutting forces before starting machines.</li><li>Exercise caution when running new programs, especially at the start and after tool changes.</li><li>Know the location of emergency stops and practice using them.</li><li>Maintain a tidy workspace to prevent accidents and injuries.</li><li>Follow safety protocols for 2" and hand grinders.</li></ul> Mill/Lathe Operations and Setup: <ul><li>Start and home milling machines and lathes.</li><li>Touch off tools, set offsets, and determine tool lengths and diameters using a tool setter.</li><li>Load programs through Predator and USB and send proven programs back for updates.</li><li>Adjust and edit tools and work offsets.</li><li>Set XYZ and Z coordinates.</li><li>Load and unload workpieces for milling operations.</li><li>Change tool setter and probe batteries.</li><li>Perform pre-production maintenance checks and clean machines.</li><li>Change machine filters and check/fill coolant levels.</li><li>Read refractometers for coolant concentration.</li><li>Stone machine tables, fixtures, vises, chucks, and turrets prior to use.</li><li>Perform basic mill setups, including indicating fixtures and vises.</li><li>Setup mill and lathe tools and replace or identify worn tooling.</li><li>Indicate vises and fixtures, change jaws, and set clamps.</li><li>Use proper collets and holders for tools, demonstrating proper use.</li><li>Follow and update Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).</li><li>Clean machine tool tapers and verify delivery of coolants and fluids.</li><li>Empty chip bins and containers.</li><li>Deburr finished parts and clean raw materials prior to loading.</li><li>Grease vises and use machine DRO to understand machine positions.</li><li>Clean collets and remove the chips, and clean tool holder caps before and after use.</li></ul> Inspection Tasks: <ul><li>Understand basic GD&T.</li><li>Measure and verify length, width, and diameter of raw materials.</li><li>Inspect and identify materials by type.</li><li>Properly use and care for measurement equipment.</li><li>Measure part/feature height/depth with depth micrometers.</li><li>Measure with calipers (vernier, dial, and digital), ID micrometers, and OD micrometers.</li><li>Measure threads with thread gauges.</li><li>Measure part features, profiles, and dimensions optically or comparatively.</li><li>Review part prints and identify critical dimensions.</li><li>Verify milled and turned parts for quality and compliance.</li><li>Test and verify calibrations of inspection tools.</li></ul> General Expectations: <ul><li>Perform area housekeeping.</li><li>Conduct shift changes and exchange information effectively.</li><li>Maintain a good attitude and be a team player.</li><li>Meet or exceed standard run times.</li><li>Perform non-routine task lists and operator maintenance tasks.</li><li>Maintain coolant levels and check concentration.</li><li>Report any maintenance needs to the lead.</li><li>Attend minute meetings on time.</li><li>Provide useful suggestions that contribute to positive work results.</li><li>Ensure the work area is ready for the next user.</li><li>Accurately check tools out of the tool crib.</li></ul> Minimal Requirements: <ul><li>Minimum of 1-3 years' experience is required</li><li>Extensive experience as a CNC Technician with a focus on safety and operational competencies.</li><li>Strong understanding of CNC machine setup, maintenance, and troubleshooting.</li><li>Ability to read and interpret technical documents and blueprints.</li><li>Proficiency in using tool setters, collets, holders, and other CNC-related tools.</li><li>Excellent attention to detail and problem-solving skills.</li><li>Ability to follow and update SOPs.</li><li>Strong communication and teamwork skills.</li></ul> Physical Requirements: <ul><li>Ability to lift and move heavy objects up to 50 lbs.</li><li>Prolonged periods of standing and working on machines.</li><li>Manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.</li></ul> Work Environment: <ul><li>Manufacturing plant with exposure to noise, dust, and machinery. </li><li>Use of personal protective
