This includes a wide range of systems and equipment such as elevators, ventilation, heating, refrigeration, electrical, building lighting, street lighting, fume hoods, fire sprinklers, fire extinguishers, fire alarm systems, chemical spills, critical/computer alarms systems, plumbing, doors/windows, kitchen equipment, floods, building leaks and ceiling tiles + Apply journey-level knowledge in associated trades to "triage" problems and direct appropriate trades to complete work; work independently and exercise independent judgment to solve problems + Monitor building systems operations to ensure proper functioning + Initiate corrective action if required on a variety of mechanical, electrical, life support and air conditioning equipment + Respond to building fire alarms and provide assistance to Seattle Fire Department personnel as required + Test and certify building Fire Sprinkler Systems + Participate in and follow through with Campus Engineering and Operations (CEO) process improvement initiatives (Balanced Scorecard, Lean, Ideas Systems) + Comply with occupational health and safety regulations that apply to work actions and conduct on the job, including the use of personal protective equipment whenever required, report safety infractions to the supervisor + Other duties as required **Core** **Competencies** + Demonstrate strong personal integrity, trustworthiness, responsibility, and accountability + Manage stressful situations and changing priorities effectively + Be responsible and accountable + Use organizational skills and provide attention to details + Exercise professionalism, which includes being tactful and courteous **Education** **&** **Experience** To be considered for this opportunity your application must demonstrate you meet both the minimum qualifications and additional qualifications listed below. **Preferred Qualifications** + Journey-level experience in at least two skilled trades + Excellent skills in HVAC, electrical repair, plumbing in and institutional or commercial setting + Experience in the operation of elevators, emergency evacuation of trapped occupants and repair and troubleshooting of streetlights + Good commercial refrigeration controls repair and carpentry skills + Proficient with Microsoft Office, Adobe Acrobat, and maintenance work request and work order programs **Working Conditions** + Must be able to work rotating shifts which involve working nights, weekends, and holidays to provide 24/7 coverage 365 days a year + Must be able to wear all proper Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required + Have possession of a valid motor vehicle operator's license recognized by the State of Washington and have a good driving record + Must be willing to work in BL2 and BL3 labs (shower in - shower out facilities) + Must be able to lift or carry heavy objects, climb ladders, work in restricted movement areas, mechanical/electrical spaces, ventilation fan housing, etc.
