p>Graduate of a Commission on Accreditation of Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP)-accredited Surgical Technology program Current Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification through the National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA) required; Certified Surgical First Assistant (CSFA) certification will also be accepted Minimum two (2) years of work experience as a Certified Surgical Technologist Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association Demonstrated knowledge of anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, microbiology, and pharmacology relevant to surgical patient care Expertise in the theory and application of sterile and aseptic technique Ability to operate surgical equipment and devices, anticipate procedural needs, and problem-solve in real time during surgery Strong attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and ability to follow verbal and written instructions and adhere to hospital and departmental policies. Review preference cards and ensure all supplies, instruments, equipment, positioning aids, and other items needed for each scheduled procedure are available and ready in the room; collaborate with Service Line Coordinators and the OR Manager to maintain preference card accuracy Perform preoperative duties including donning OR attire and personal protective equipment (PPE), performing the surgical scrub, gowning and gloving, setting up the sterile back table and Mayo stand, and labeling medications and solutions Perform initial instrument, sharps, and sponge counts with the circulating nurse; assist team members with gowning and gloving; establish and maintain the sterile field Participate in surgical site and patient verification during the time-out procedure; secure tubing, cords, and other sterile accessories.
