This position interprets blueprints, sketches, and engineering specifications; determine sequence of operations, number of cuts required and method of setup and arrangement; work with a variety of machinist's hand tools and precision measuring instruments; make shop computations; and fit and put together precision parts and determine material, parts and equipment required. Position sets up and operates a variety of machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, precision grinders, etc. to make parts, mechanisms, tools, or machines to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
