Essential Qualifications: Ability and willingness to act to ensure the safety and security of the property, students, staff, faculty and visitors to the University in accordance with University policy, prior security experience in a college/university setting preferred; strong communication and interpersonal skills; ability to remain calm and make sound decisions under pressure; current Security Officer Registration Act (SORA) certification or willingness and ability to attain such upon position confirmation prior to beginning employment; ability to fulfill the physical requirements of the position, including heavy lifting within manageable and safe parameters (25-50 pounds), ability to stand, walk, stoop, climb, and bend, and ability to work outdoors in all seasons as needed; proven ability to work with a diverse population, experience working with teenagers and young adults preferred; certification in First Aid, CPR, and/or AED a plus; willingness and ability to model, support and promote the Felician Franciscan mission and values of the University. The Security Officer engages in a wide variety of activities, including but not limited to: conducting active patrols of campus grounds, buildings, parking areas and walkways to ensure safety and security; monitoring surveillance systems and responding promptly to alarms or suspicious activity; enforcing campus policies, rules and regulations in a fair and respectful manner; providing assistance during emergencies, including medical incidents, evacuations, and severe weather events; preparing accurate incident and activity reports; offering directions, information and assistance to students, staff and visitors.
