Career Readiness Competencies: <ul><li>Career & Self-Development </li><li>Communication </li><li>Critical Thinking </li></ul>Essential Functions<ul><li>Confidentiality: all conversations, data, and work resource access may be protected </li><li>Establish specific availability for tutoring through NAVIGATE (including group tutoring sessions) </li><li>Work efficiently and effectively with limited supervision </li><li>Tutor students in-person and online in both individual and /or group styled learning sessions </li><li>Conduct online topic-based support seminars (weekly preferred) </li><li>Maintain a record of all tutoring sessions including names of students tutored and the course tutored </li><li>Promote the Teaching and Learning Center's services, especially Writing Lab support </li><li>Create, assist in creating, or updating study aids such as writing games, quizzes and review guides. </li><li>Meet with supervisor, cooperating faculty member, and professional tutor as needed for job support. </li><li>Possess familiarity with technology, such as NAVIGATE, Zoom, MS Teams, and CANVAS. </li><li>Communicate with students and supervisors in a timely, professional manner. </li><li>Demonstrate strong academic habits and serve as a positive role model for peers. </li><li>Maintain an organized office space. </li><li>Complete time sheets honestly and submit in a timely manner. </li><li>Support front desk staff with office operations including, but not limited to answering phones and assisting in-center patrons </li><li>Meet with Teaching and Learning Center staff at scheduled meetings. </li></ul>Minimum Qualifications Work Skills and Characteristics: <ul><li>Demonstrate effective verbal and/or written communication skills </li><li>Demonstrate the ability to think critically while making decisions </li><li>Ability to work collaboratively with others in the community </li><li>Demonstrate mastery command of the English language and writing skills </li></ul>Qualifications: <ul><li>Be currently enrolled at BGSU Firelands and meet enrollment requirements for your respective college. </li><li>Have a minimum accumulative GPA of 3.0. </li><li>A grade of "A" or "B" in WRIT 1120 with faculty consent. </li><li>Prior enrollment with the professor who is to teach the selected course is preferred. </li><li>Content and English language-competency. </li><li>Possess strong communication with writing focus, organizational, and interpersonal skills. </li><li>Be committed to helping others succeed academically. </li></ul> Additional Information<ul><li>Required Availability: Must have on campus availability to meet with students during the semester as remote availability to support online classes </li><li>Application Requirements: Applicants must submit a cover letter, resume, class schedule, + Writing sample: three pages. </li></ul> Bowling Green State University is an equal opportunity employer.
