Q. I frequently change jobs because I lose interest after just a few months. Is there a problem with me?

A. If you lose interest in every job you have, I wonder if there’s something about the job itself that’s the issue.

Ask yourself what about the job appealed to you and made you apply to it in the first place. Next, try to determine what exactly you’re losing interest in. Is the job too mundane? Is the pace too slow? Are you not learning anything new?

If you’re consistently losing interest after the first few months of a job, that tells me that you start feeling dissatisfied once you’ve mastered a company’s culture and the job role. I wonder if you simply enjoy the thrill of the chase. Maybe the jobs you’re pursuing aren’t challenging enough. If that’s the case, there may not necessarily be a problem with you, but your next job should stretch your skills and make you venture outside your comfort zone.

It’s not abnormal to lose interest in your job, but since it’s happened after the first few months at several jobs in a row, that’s a message telling you to aim much higher for the next one!
