Re: Veterinary Assistant, Advertised on Monster
Dear Ms. Peters:
As an experienced, dedicated and AVA-designated veterinary assistant, I offer strong qualifications that match the requirements listed in your ad.
Despite loving animals for as long as I can remember, I never had any pets while growing up. My dad was allergic to cats, my sister was terrified of dogs and my mom wasn’t a fan of anything that might impact the tidy home she maintained. I tried to make do by substituting stuffed animals for the real thing, but it just wasn’t the same.
I longed to put my love of animals into action, so as soon as I was old enough I began volunteering at the SPCA. As long as I could be around dogs, cats and the occasional rabbit or ferret residing at the shelter, I was happy to clean cages, restock shelves, inventory supplies or greet visitors at the front desk. Of course, if I was assigned to interact with, feed, bathe or exercise the animals, I was thrilled.
After volunteering hundreds of hours at the SPCA, I decided to pursue a career in pet health care. I earned a certificate from a NAVTA-approved veterinary assistant program, achieved the Approved Veterinary Assistant (AVA) designation and joined the team at DEF Pet Clinic in Sometown.
It has been three years since I started working as a veterinary assistant, and I continue to love what I do. I take pride in maintaining cleanliness of the clinic and ensuring the safety and well-being of all pet patients. Whether assisting veterinarians and vet techs with pet exams/procedures, educating pet owners on care concerns or performing administrative tasks, I strive to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
I am confident that I would be an asset to your team. If you agree, please call me at 555-555-5555 to schedule an interview. Thank you for considering my application.
Sincerely,
Megan Thomas, AVA
