    Description

    Line Cook

    The Line Cook is responsible for the preparation of high-quality food in a timely, efficient, sanitary and consistent manner. The Line Cook must be prepared to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure work environment, while maintaining the organizational ability to identify and acton job duties quickly and effectively. Line Cook must be prepared to work as a team member in a dynamic workplace, follow all safety procedures, and have a high threshold for heat in a kitchen environment.

    Essential duties include the daily preparation of food items in the kitchen, setting up station according to the Chef de Cuisine's guidelines, preparing all food items as directed in a sanitary and timely manner, following recipes, portion controls, and presentation specifications as set by the Chef de Cuisine, restocking all items as needed throughout shift, cleaning and maintaining station in practicing good safety, sanitation, organizational skills, understanding and knowledge to properly use and maintain all equipment in station, assisting with the cleaning, sanitation, and organization of kitchen, walk-in coolers, and all storage areas, performing additional responsibilities as requested by the Chef de Cuisine and F&B Director, preparing dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances, ensuring quality and safety of food by performing standard and any additional sanitary measures including sweeping of the floors, cleaning of surfaces, as well as proper covering and storage of food items according to standards and procedures, working at an efficient and consistent pace, ensuring timely preparation of all meals, ensuring that the correct quantities are prepared to meet daily needs, utilizing kitchen equipment during food preparation, staying productive at all times and preparing for future needs as time allows, demonstrating flexibility and volunteering to fill open shifts as required by variations in staffing, following proper reporting procedures for accidents and incidents to ensure follow-up and prevention, adhering to all regulations including blood borne pathogens, infection control, use of hazardous materials and fire safety, serving food in the proper portion size and at the proper temperature, reporting any infraction in the food services department policies and procedures, arriving to work at the scheduled time, and performing other related duties as required.

    Experience required includes minimum 1 year of cooking experience, demonstrated knowledge of food and banquet trends, quality, production, sanitation, food cost controls, and presentation, knowledge of methods and procedures for serving food, principles of sanitation, and principals of safe food handling, ability to lift up to 50lb, effective communication skills, highly flexible with solid interpersonal skills that allow one to work effectively in a diverse working environment, highly effective teamwork skills, attention to detail in all areas of work, superior time management skills, multitasking skills, and the ability to prioritize tasks with minimal supervision, strong problem identification and problem resolution skills, strong work ethic and positive team attitude.

    Education required includes an associate's degree in business, management, or hospitality or related field or equivalent of 1 year relevant work experience, culinary school certificate preferred, and Food Handlers card.

    Working conditions and physical work demands include ability to stoop, kneel, bend at the waist and reach on a daily basis, ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds occasionally, regular and on-time attendance is critical, hours occasionally exceed 40 hours per week including weekends and holidays, and ability to stand during shifts.

    Other duties include other duties as assigned.
