Description

The Human Resources (HR) Manager aligns business objectives with employees and management. Serves as a consultant and business partner with management on HR issues, policy and programs. Assesses and anticipates HR business needs and communicates those needs proactively with the HR department and other departments. Seeks to develop integrated solutions and delivers value added service to management and employees that support the business objectives of the organization.

Essential Job Functions

  • Develops and implements workforce planning strategies to ensure adequate staffing levels across all shifts and departments in a 24/7 operation.
  • Conducts employee relations investigations, resolves workplace concerns, recommends appropriate corrective actions, and ensures appropriate corrective actions are followed.
  • Maintains positive employee relations through regular interaction with employees across all shifts.
  • Coordinates and administers employee training programs, including leadership development, compliance training, harassment prevention, and workplace conduct.
  • Administers leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, workers compensation, and other federal and state leave requirements.
  • Oversees employee benefits administration and serves as a liaison between employees and benefit providers.
  • Partners with supervisors and managers to administer performance management processes, including performance reviews, corrective actions, coaching, and development planning.
  • Ensures timely compliance with immigration and employment eligibility verification requirements, unemployment claims, employment verification requests, and government audits.
  • Participates in plant audits and inspections when HR input is required.
  • Maintains payroll and HR systems and ensures data integrity for employee records, payroll, benefits, and reporting.
  • Prepares and provides HR and payroll reports from ADP to support Finance (including budgeting, fiscal year-end, and retroactive pay calculations), and compile HR metrics and statistics for monthly operations meetings.
  • Analyzes workforce data and trends to develop recommendations for improving retention, productivity, attendance, and employee engagement.
  • Keeps the organization in compliance with federal and state employment laws by identifying and enforcing legal requirements; provide training on requirements and submitting necessary reports and filings.
  • Coordinates with plant manager and employees to adhere to and improve safety policies and practices. Serves as a member of the safety committee.
  • Oversees and coordinates the processing of both weekly and bi-weekly payroll.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Requirements

Education/Training

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development or other related course of study or equivalent experience.

Preferred:

  • Master's degree in Business, Human Resources, Organizational Development or other related course of study or equivalent experience.

Experience/Knowledge/Abilities

Required:

  • 5 to 8 years of HR generalist experience with supervisory experience.
  • Effective written and oral communication skills necessary to explain complex human relations issues to all categories of employees.
  • Experience with HR and payroll systems (ADP/UKG)
  • Ability to analyze complex situations.
  • Ability to work under pressure while meeting tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong training and coaching skills.
  • Proficient in Windows Office programs.

Preferred:

  • 8 to 10 years of supervisory HR experience.
