6-12 Resource Teacher

Columbus Catholic Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Grades 6-12 Resource Teacher to support students at Columbus Catholic Middle and High School. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students with diverse learning needs and will collaborate closely with teachers, families, administration, and the local public school district to ensure students receive the academic support and services they need to be successful.

The Grades 6-12 Resource Teacher will:

• Provide individual and small-group academic support to middle and high school students with diverse learning needs.

• Work collaboratively with the local public school district to identify, refer, and support students who may qualify for special education services and an Individualized Education Program (IEP).

• Assist with the development, implementation, and monitoring of service plans for eligible students attending Columbus Catholic Schools.

• Communicate accommodations, supports, and service-plan requirements to classroom teachers and help ensure they are implemented appropriately.

• Monitor student progress and collaborate with teachers, parents, administrators, and outside professionals to determine appropriate interventions and supports.

• Provide support with organization, study skills, testing accommodations, assignment completion, and development of independent learning skills.

• Maintain appropriate documentation and participate in student support, IEP, service-plan, and parent meetings as needed.

• Serve as a resource for teachers by providing strategies for differentiated instruction, accommodations, and supporting students with learning needs.

Preferred Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Special Education, Education, or a related field.

• Wisconsin teaching license preferred.

• Special Education licensure or experience working with students with disabilities strongly preferred.

• Knowledge of IEPs, service plans, accommodations, interventions, and special education referral and evaluation processes.

• Experience supporting middle school and/or high school students.

• Strong organizational, communication, and collaboration skills.

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and appropriately manage sensitive student information.

• Commitment to helping students develop the skills and confidence necessary to become increasingly independent learners.

• Willingness to support and uphold the mission and values of Catholic education.

The Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate will be compassionate, organized, flexible, and able to balance direct student support with coordination and case-management responsibilities. This individual should be comfortable advocating for students while also helping them develop independence and accountability.

Because Columbus Catholic is a private school, this position requires particularly strong collaboration with the local public school district. The Resource Teacher will serve as an important connection between Columbus Catholic families, classroom teachers, administrators, and public school special education personnel to help ensure that students who may qualify for services are appropriately identified, evaluated, and supported.
