About the Opportunity
We are looking for an Account Manager to support the handling, analysis, and coordination of complex insurance claims involving environmental, asbestos, latent injury, and related matters.
This role is a strong fit for someone who enjoys analytical work, coverage review, documentation, litigation coordination, and stakeholder communication. The Account Manager will work closely with internal teams, legal resources, insureds, defense counsel, reinsurers, and other parties to help evaluate claims, support resolution strategies, and ensure matters are handled accurately and efficiently.
The position begins fully onsite to support training, collaboration, and onboarding. Remote flexibility increases over time, with 1 day remote available after 6 months, broader hybrid flexibility after the first year, and potential full remote flexibility in the second year.
What You'll Do
- Review new claim notices, loss information, tenders, and supporting documentation
- Analyze insurance coverage under applicable primary, umbrella, and excess policies
- Coordinate with internal teams to locate, verify, and review relevant policy information
- Support claim strategy by working with insureds, defense counsel, internal legal teams, management, and participating carriers
- Assist with declaratory judgment actions, settlement evaluations, authority requests, and resolution planning
- Participate in claim resolution activities, including mediations as needed and within assigned authority
- Collaborate on reserve recommendations and support appropriate reserve setting for assigned claims
- Coordinate defense counsel retention and maintain communication with involved parties
- Provide updates on new and existing accounts to internal departments and respond to related inquiries
- Work with reinsurance teams on notices, updates, and reinsurer questions
- Support timely claim payment processing and verify appropriate allocation across applicable policies
- Assist with expense management through strategic handling, bill review, and payment coordination
- Maintain accurate claim documentation in systems and files according to established guidelines
- Track deadlines, follow up on outstanding items, and help move claims toward resolution
- Obtain and maintain adjuster licenses as required
- Travel as needed for meetings, mediations, or claim-related matters
What We're Looking For
- Bachelor's degree required
- J.D. preferred
- CPCU or other insurance industry designation a plus
- Experience with claims, insurance coverage, litigation management, legal support, account management, or complex case analysis preferred
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong grammar, documentation, and professional correspondence skills
- Ability to explain complex information clearly and concisely
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work collaboratively with internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to manage deadlines, competing priorities, and interruptions in a professional manner
- Highly detail-oriented with strong follow-through
- Comfortable working under pressure and using sound judgment in sensitive situations
- Ability to follow established procedures while adapting to complex claim scenarios
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Office, Teams, and internet-based applications
