
Employee Benefits Account Manager
Position Overview
A respected insurance and benefits consulting organization is seeking an experienced Employee Benefits Account Manager to support and manage a portfolio of employee benefits clients. This role is responsible for delivering exceptional client service, coordinating renewals, supporting benefits strategy discussions, and ensuring the accurate administration of client benefit programs.
The ideal candidate is highly organized, client-focused, and experienced in navigating employee benefits plans while building strong relationships with clients, carriers, and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Client Service & Relationship Management
Provide prompt, accurate, and professional service to clients, carriers, and internal team members.
Serve as a primary point of contact for employee benefits clients and support ongoing account needs.
Develop and maintain strong client relationships through proactive communication and service.
Educate clients regarding benefit programs, coverage options, and plan provisions.
Renewal & Marketing Support
Manage employee benefits renewal processes and coordinate timelines to ensure successful implementation.
Prepare renewal and marketing submissions for carrier review.
Collaborate with producers, consultants, and carrier representatives to negotiate renewal terms and program options.
Assist in developing benefit recommendations that align with client objectives and budgets.
Benefits Analysis & Consulting Support
Review existing benefits programs and identify opportunities for enhancements or cost-containment strategies.
Assist clients in evaluating plan design changes and coverage alternatives.
Support claims review discussions and help address client concerns related to benefit administration.
Analyze coverage proposals and summarize recommendations for clients.
Policy Administration & Documentation
Maintain accurate client records and documentation within agency management systems.
Prepare and review proposals, plan summaries, carrier communications, and client reports.
Coordinate benefits-related service requests, enrollment changes, and policy maintenance activities.
Ensure all client information and documentation remains accurate and up to date.
Compliance & Quality Assurance
Adhere to organizational policies, regulatory requirements, and industry best practices.
Support compliance initiatives related to employee benefits programs.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism when handling sensitive client information.
Assist with process improvement efforts to enhance operational efficiency and client experience.
Required Qualifications
3+ years of employee benefits insurance experience within an agency, brokerage, consulting firm, carrier, or related environment.
Strong knowledge of employee benefit programs, including medical, dental, vision, life, disability, and voluntary benefits.
Excellent communication, customer service, and relationship-building skills.
Strong organizational and time-management abilities.
Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines simultaneously.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
Preferred Qualifications
Active insurance license or ability to obtain and maintain appropriate licensing.
Experience utilizing agency management systems or benefits administration platforms.
Experience supporting mid-market or large-group employee benefits accounts.
Professional insurance or benefits designations are a plus.
