A growing organization in the oil and gas industry is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join its accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional who is eager to build industry expertise in a fast-paced, operational environment.

The Accountant will support day-to-day accounting activities, account reconciliations, month-end close, financial reporting, and process-improvement initiatives. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in general accounting, exceptional attention to detail, comfort working with data, and a genuine interest in learning the unique financial and operational dynamics of the energy industry.

What You’ll Do:

• Assist with daily accounting operations, including data entry, transaction processing, account maintenance, and documentation.

• Prepare journal entries, supporting schedules, and account reconciliations to ensure accurate general-ledger activity.

• Support month-end, quarter-end, and year-end close activities, including account analysis, accruals, and variance research.

• Assist with the preparation of financial statements, management reports, and other internal reporting.

• Review financial data for completeness, accuracy, proper coding, and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.

• Research and resolve discrepancies, variances, and reconciling items in a timely manner.

• Maintain organized, audit-ready accounting records and supporting documentation.

• Partner with accounting, operations, land, production, and other internal teams to collect information, validate data, and support accurate reporting.

• Assist with accounts payable, accounts receivable, cash activity, vendor records, and other accounting processes as needed.

• Support internal and external audit requests and help maintain strong internal controls.

• Participate in process-improvement initiatives focused on increasing accuracy, efficiency, and consistency across accounting workflows.

• Take on additional accounting projects and responsibilities as the team and business continue to grow.

What We’re Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related business discipline.

•  2+ years of accounting experience preferred; recent accounting graduates with relevant internships or strong foundational experience are encouraged to apply.

• Interest in building a long-term career in oil and gas, energy, or operational accounting.

• Strong understanding of general accounting principles, including journal entries, reconciliations, financial statements, and month-end close.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, including the ability to organize, analyze, and reconcile financial data.

• Experience with an ERP, accounting platform, or industry-specific accounting system is a plus.

• Oil and gas accounting experience - including exposure to joint interest billing, revenue accounting, production accounting, royalty accounting, or lease-operating expenses - is helpful but not required.

• Highly detail-oriented, organized, dependable, and able to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to investigate discrepancies and follow issues through resolution.

• Clear written and verbal communication skills and a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
