The Role
We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to support the day-to-day financial operations of the church. This role assists with bookkeeping, reconciliations, payroll support, and financial reporting while maintaining accuracy, confidentiality, and strong service to staff and ministry leaders. This is a full-time, non-exempt, in-person position reporting to the Accounting Manager.


Key Responsibilities

• Assist with accounts payable and accounts receivable
• Record and reconcile daily deposits and contributions
• Maintain accurate general ledger entries
• Assist with bank and credit card reconciliations
• Support payroll processing and month-end reporting

Qualifications

• 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
• Experience with monthly bank and account reconciliations
• Proficiency in Excel
• Experience with fund accounting software (Sage Intacct or similar) a plus
• Familiarity with nonprofit or church fund accounting preferred
• High integrity and discretion with sensitive financial and donor information
• Comfort using technology and AI tools (such as Claude) a plus

Schedule: Monday to Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with some flexibility
