We are seeking a detail-oriented Accounting Assistant to join our Corporate Office in Woburn, MA. The Accounting Assistant is responsible for ensuring that transactions are properly recorded and that supporting documents are present and correct, while performing routine calculations, reconciliations, and bank transactions across distributions, operations, and corporate accounting functions. As an Accounting Assistant, your primary responsibilities include:
  • Preparing paperwork (check requests and transfers) for periodic distributions once the distribution spreadsheet has been approved by the Corporate Controller and President
  • Initiating distribution disbursements, including inputting and authorizing invoices for payment and recording electronic funds transfers in bank and property management software
  • Generating investor communications once electronic funds have been sent, and recording distribution receipts for all internal entities
  • Entering invoices for payment as needed (insurance, consultants, etc.) and processing routine wires and transfers for an assigned portfolio
  • Reviewing new vendor paperwork and establishing vendors in property management software
  • Entering and coding all corporate invoices and copying reimbursement invoices for billing
  • Reconciling corporate reimbursement accounts to the General Ledger
  • Partnering across the Accounting Department to keep day-to-day operations running smoothly
What You Bring to Us:
  • A High School Diploma and at least 1 year of experience in a related field
  • Knowledge of industry software systems such as MRI and Nexus preferred, but not required
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel preferred
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy when handling financial data
  • The ability to multi-task, meet deadlines, and work independently
  • Solid written and verbal communication skills
  • Discretion and good judgment when handling confidential information
  • A positive, can-do attitude and a collaborative approach to teamwork
